I have been testing using this post: https://www.pprune.org/aviation-hist...l#post11328237

I have a 2021 16" MacBook Pro (M1) running Ventura 13.0. My primary browser is Safari 16.1

I cannot see the video URL, even after I delete all PPRuNe cookies and login again.

My privacy settings look like this:

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....50060eb732.png
After unchecking "Hide IP address", and doing a page update, I see this:

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....88138b66e3.png

If I then update the page again, it reverts to its original state, with no video displayed!

I see similar behaviour when browsing using Firefox 106.0.4 and no amount of fiddling with the Privacy settings causes the video to be displayed.

PS This post was also due to SP's request on the V Bomber Escape thread.

I have also reported the impossibility to view video's, nor the url. Going to the button "Go Advanced and then going to the post in question does indeed show the video, but doing that is tedious. Photo'd, however are visible without problems. I have Firefox, but Chrome also does not show the video's or url. Very annoying!
This is since a few months, I used to have no problems at all with video's. So what or who has changed this winning team?

It doesn't for me, MacOS 13.0.1, Intel Macbook Pro, Firefox 106.0.5. I have Adblock Plus and Facebook Container extensions.

The problem may be with youtube. I just tried to open a youtube clip that was embedded in a tweet and it refused to open and directed me to the youtube app.

I am now able to view all the YouTube links which were not visible on my iPad; has anyone else found the links now working or do we still have a problem on certain browsers or platforms?

I could see the links for a while but they have disappeared again !

Prop malfunction with a history of previous failures. Reminds me of a guy I knew that flew MU-2's. He was flying one day and threw a blade. The drag cause by the damage meant that he couldn't maintain altitude and he barely made it to an air force base. Despite the fault.....no AD from the FAA. Then it happened again a few years later and killed a state governor when the pilots couldn't make it to an airport. FAA AD followed.

Punkalouver all I can see is a large white space above your text, is there meant to be a photo there?

I see the link to a YouTube video about the incident.

tubby linton 26th Nov 2022 14:06

I see just a large white space. On other posts I have seen a grey box saying that the clip will not play.

Blank post.
There is a large white space on the first post about the worst crash.I am told that the space should be a link to a youtube clip.I get the same using Chrome rather than Safari.

Bergerie1 26th Nov 2022 14:08

Try this link:-

Nothing there either, but when I quote your post I can see the text link. I have posted about this in the Pprune problems section. I also tried using Chrome but with the same result.

Bergerie1 26th Nov 2022 14:36

Exactly the same problem for me using Firefox. Only if I click on "Go Advanced" and then scroll to Bergerie's post #72, am I able to see and play the video.

Simple version -
  • I could not see youtube links, big space instead.
  • Close pprune, delete pprune cookies.
  • Restart pprune
  • Log in, ACCEPT all cookies. - in some order?
  • Now it works fine
The more complex reality -
I run a blocker. I think I turned it off and did as above. Then restored blocker. I think blocker blocks cookies dialog.

Weird thing is that it now works in incognito mode too (this starts clean, with NO cookies, every time). Maybe pprune is setting a flag on server when you accept cookies and that is recognised when you login. OR maybe Chrome Incognito mode really can see normal mode cookies!!! Or something.

Hope this might help.

I would rather go without the ads and ad tracking.Safari deletes cookies every time you leave the site I believe. In another topic one of the site engineers said they had done a lot of work that had some unexplained timescale. The site owner needs to prioritise the user rather than themselves otherwise there will be no site.

Please report url/YouTube link problems here with more detail to assist IB to troubleshoot this problem: thanks 👍
