I don't know what we run. We did switch our cookie banner for GDPR/CCPA reasons recently, however.

The flaky URL problem has been going on for a couple months at least.

Airbanda 1st Sep 2022 22:07

Similar issue here. Links go to a page with a standard message:

Gone

The requested resource is no longer available on this server and there is no forwarding address. Please remove all references to this resource.

Presumably an issue with forwarding.

Invisible URLs and in-line content have been going for months; the broken links is new.

That one doesn't have the redirect prefix in the URL - oh, it looks like the automatic prefix of "redirect" has been removed.

Pprune redirects in JetBlast now throwing up a 410 Gone message instead of opening the link.

IB were notified yesterday that the problem has resurfaced, but it’s the weekend and I can’t get regular updates 🙊

I posted a youtube video clip on the 1940's weekend thread (from my own youtube channel)
I now cannot see it - and I cannot see many of the recently posted yt clips either.

No issues at all with your YouTube appearing in your post for me, but obviously there must be something in the water for this to be a continuing problem. Not that I have had a reply to my report made more than a fortnight ago.

Thanks for the reply SP - dunno what is going on - I am on various forums and pprune is the only one I am having URL problems with.

I'm still having problems with missing links, once even in my own post!

A quick way to find the missing text is to click on the Quote box at the bottom right.

Again, an email trail to IB requesting a resolution to this problem. One suggestion relates to One Trust, and whether we (as PPRuNe Users) are accepting all Cookies.

I’ll let you know when I know 👍

IBJoel 11th Nov 2022 17:53

OK, so to ensure this problem is on our end and not yours, we need the following from EVERY person who reports this:
  • Have you accepted site cookies?
  • Do you clear cookies upon closing your browser?
  • If you clear site data or go into incognito/private browsing, do links and embeds appear then?
  • If not, what kind of device are you using, desktop/laptop or mobile?
  • What browser are you using and are your running any content blockers on it?
  • If you are on a mobile device, are you using the desktop/full site skin or the mobile skin?

Jhieminga 12th Nov 2022 12:33

I don't know if it helps, but for me everything works fine and that is on MacOS 13.0.1 on a MacBook Pro, Firefox 106.0.5 and I do use content blockers and refuse most of the cookies.

Its seems to have happened relatively recently - it affects a lot more posts now

Looks liek there was an "upgrade" to the site software - its not critical but its bloody irritating

I am only getting this on my iPad, which recently had a major iOS update; I emailed this to IB on Friday their time. Is anyone with the latest url problem also on an iPad with iOS 16.1?

tubby linton 12th Nov 2022 20:44

It doesn’t work on my legacy ipad which runs 15.7.1 when viewing through safari or on my current ipad in 16.1.1. The links are viewable in Chrome on the ipad.

Asturias56 13th Nov 2022 07:30

I'm running W10 on a desktop and it's variable - some links appear some don't
