This is just bordering on mean, Piano Man.

Critical Reynolds No 18th Apr 2013 23:25

Do you offer PPRUNE discounts Piano Man? Tempted to take the family up that way next dry season.

Piano Man 19th Apr 2013 09:04

Well I've shown a few of the Beaver this week, so I will now end it with the Caravan:

You need to keep up with that FO of yours; he's got everything set up for HNL (VOR for the G/A etc), while yours...........:)
...is set up for our current track which seems to be the convention on the 767. The fact that the F/O for that trip was another Captain may also explain why. Given he's not used to that sleep he needed all the prep time he could muster. :ok: :}

Perhaps a dingo in the swimming pool? That actually happened over Easter at Trevor Wright's (Wrightsair) property at William Creek. Pilotette and crew were dispatched to fish it out alive...

Jabawocky 19th Apr 2013 20:33

Aerodrome is serviceable.

Broken Hill?

?..but what does it mean when displayed as per the pic?
I see a cautionary tail involving a rather tall woman with large breasts wearing a white cone shaped hat that was running naked through a mine field.

Of course,it could also be a warning to all airmen about the risks of mixing semi-colons with quotation marks.

It depends on the context.

Can't be about the misuse of punctuation/English language Joe, someone from PPRUNE would have been on to that a long time ago...

And so they should. If their (not there, or they're) english teachers are too (not to, or two) stupid to teach them, somebody should. :ok:

Wally Mk2 20th Apr 2013 12:54

Dr they mean nothing as per Jaba's response:)

As to where? Sheeez could be anywhere outback boondock but probably where Jaba & his cohorts live :E

On second thoughts, it looks like two lesbian stick people getting it on in a scissor position.

Hmmm, that reminds me about the new IKEA furniture line for lesbians...

Looks a bit like Wanaaring, but it doesn't have a sealed runway, just one covered with sharp rocks that leave dents under the Aero Commander's belly.

And the sign means:"The hard surfaces are in as good a condition as this patch of tar they are sitting on. Use a helicopter."

vme 20th Apr 2013 22:11

Is it showing circuit directions?

bentleg 20th Apr 2013 22:51

Last time I was at Wanaaring it was sealed.

1) What is?
All the various markers are lying white side down, so they would most likely be not visible from the air, so the runway could be OK to go.

2) Where is?
No idea!

ForkTailedDrKiller 21st Apr 2013 00:15

OK, I think we have the "what" sussed - just pick the answer that suits you best!

So here's a couple of additional clues to the "where"!

morno 21st Apr 2013 03:14

Hmmmm, that's a tricky one Dr. I was going to say Windorah, but that last pic doesn't match up. Plus it's an RFDS B200 that's sitting there closed up, and if it were Windorah then it'd be an RFDS PC-12 that's sitting there closed up.

So, might have to have a think about that one!

A guess only because it's been years since I last visited, but Lightning Ridge perhaps?

I like those white choccy frogs.

I give you the home grown Zimbawe Helicopter. Been smoking home grown more like it. The best 14 minutes of your life awaits you.

ForkTailedDrKiller 22nd Apr 2013 07:54

No - to all of the above!

Time was you could post a pic of an outhouse at an aerodrome anywhere in Oz and someone on this forum would recognise and ID it in a few hours.

Hillston or Ivanhoe I think. Can't remember which. Which one has the "Correctional facility"?

...Checked the logbook, looks like IVO.:ok:

ForkTailedDrKiller 22nd Apr 2013 08:47

Prop icing

Not unusual, I know, but I took this crummy photo with my phone inflight, last week. Qantaslink Q400, cruising at 18000 ft (according to the IFA), I noticed a band of frost around the prop boss, and some buildup on the blades. I wish I'd had the DSLR with me...
