spinex, the first one reminds me of Heck field?

btw, I dont mind the beaver pics !:8

VH-XXX 18th Sep 2013 00:14

I was thinking Heck Field too. That would be the shorter of the two runways in the pic and from memory there's a bit of a hill next to one for the runways? If so, was there about 8 years ago picking up a new aircraft from a dealer there. I must not have the photographic memory that I thought I did.

Fantome 18th Sep 2013 00:41

YEP . . . .. looking down along 28 at Heck

"last light" please PM ASAP

spinex 18th Sep 2013 00:43

Hmmm, no flies on the assembled company.:) Yes, Boonah and Heck / Jacobs Well respectively. That's Runway 28 at YJCW and there is indeed a slight hill to your left, which needs to be kept in mind when approaching 36.

Fantome 18th Sep 2013 00:50

SPINEY - CHECK PMs please

P51D 18th Sep 2013 08:39

Hey Piano Man - please don't take offence, nothing wrong with the quality of those piccies, very good in fact, I guess i was trying to get a bit more variety. So flick another one on to give me the Tom Tits! Cheers

Piano Man 18th Sep 2013 09:35

Nice pics. What's that last one? The silver jet?

Panther replica...

Grumman F9F Panther - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

spinex 20th Sep 2013 08:33

Thanks ruddman, as xxx said it's a replica of a Grumman Panther - apparently scratchbuilt and 75% scale, known as a Gross JG2. I was told that it has a modified helicopter turbine as powerplant, can't begin to get my head around what would be involved in doing that. Quite an impressive beastie and certainly something a bit different at the fly ins.:D Only thing I'll say is I wish it were in a military colour scheme.

Edit: Apparently ripping the gearbox off a turboprop making it into a jet isn't unknown, most commonly to build jet drag boats.

One from the XXX archives from a couple of years ago.

What and where for this Australian owned aircraft....?

No idea what or where - its ugly tho.

Paul O'Rourke 25th Sep 2013 05:25

Aero Comp - SDG

Guessing - West Lakes, Adelaide??

VH-XXX 25th Sep 2013 05:33

I'll give you 50% for that one Paul.

It's a Compair 6 somewhere on a lake in Florida :-) It was being flight tested prior to shipment to Australia but suffered and engine failure and didn't make it :-( Thankfully nothing was hurt in the crash of this aircraft except a for the contents of a bank account.

VH-XXX 27th Sep 2013 01:22

No doubt many of you have seen this sign before :-)

It seems that it's the hangar near the fuel bowser that cops a beating in this regard. Wagga have the issue sorted from memory.

Capt Fathom 27th Sep 2013 01:28

Perhaps if you could readily access the terminal, the need to take a p!ss next to the hanger wouldn't be necessary! :suspect:
