The same REK that is with HARS now? Very nice :)

Kharon 20th Feb 2013 23:49

Tojan 1981 - was that called a "Sky Night" or similar, seen to remember one floating around the East coast - way back. Turbo charger ot normaliser ??.

skywagondriver 21st Feb 2013 00:34

Trojan

Yes, the same REK.
She certainly got around.

Opals were the attraction here for the charterer...

Distinct 'New Australian' accents from somewhere in the Balkans, one of them carried a briefcase from which he produced cash to pay for fuel, hotel (great old fashioned one in Quilpie) and food. Also contained a handgun which made the refuelers eyes boggle the first time he saw it...

An interesting couple of weeks then back to Melbourne.

185skywagon 21st Feb 2013 01:11

Must be out near Canaway or Hot Springs?

VH-XXX 21st Feb 2013 01:13

You don't see many aircraft around these days with the rego's on top of the wings. I can think of only a small few. Probably still on the same paint job from the 70's.

Doesn't the F16 and Super Hornet look just a little bit old fashioned by comparison to the F22 Raptor? A bit of bad luck that our USA allies weren't prepared to sell them to us? Perhaps not, as they were too expensive for the Yanks also. And didn't come up to expectations anyway. That's why they are out of production with fewer than 200 built. Very sad.

Jack Ranga 27th Feb 2013 20:41

Great pics there MFB :ok: the F16 still makes the sweetest sound out of all those military jets :D The F18's were a great show & so was the Raptor!

the_rookie 27th Feb 2013 22:39

nothing beats the sound of the B1B. scary machine!

Thank you!

I just see a bunch of trees on the ground there. What do you see? A secret message or revelation or something?

kingRB 28th Feb 2013 11:49

seems to be an odd horses head shape pattern bottom left

Stikybeke 28th Feb 2013 21:14

Hey XXX,

I've seen that a couple of times now after departing north from YADL on commercial flights (Due to the pre-flight refreshment preparations, I can't remember how long into the flight you see it but I seem to recall not too long. 10 to 15 minutes seems to ring a bell... Next time I'll pay more attention...I promise!!)

When headed north Its viewable from any of the starboard window seats. I've often wondered about it as it seems to be well maintained.

Ah, reminds me of a certain character who after being prosecuted by CASA on some very dodgy evidence used an agricultural mower to write;

F**K CASA

in very large letters on the 5 acre block where he lived under the approach path to a regional airport. :ok:
