HB ! Surley you jest!

RL buying a building, Ill just pick myself up of the floor. Does he even own the one hes in now? Before he builds a new one he should give the Katherine and Alice Springs bases a complete make over! Is Jamie Dury in the House.

O damn I just woke up, Dreaming again I see.

Or DH's farewell drinks @ Stokes Hill Wharf. Kindly put on by higher authority. Followed by more drinks @ the Vic where i made the excellent choice of utilising the cash put aside for a cab ride home on tequila shots. The 5 1/2 hour walk home to Palmerston will long be remembered. Who ever said "These shoes were made for walking" was definately not talking about mine. 12 months later i still dont see the funny side of it, but i'm glad everyone else does.
Gawd, you should have said something..... You could have crashed at our place. :ooh::ooh::ooh:

Gawd, you should have said something..... You could have crashed at our place.
I dont think i was able to say much in that state. You can imagine my state of mind if i thought walking to Palmerston from the city was a good idea...
P.S. Hi Pseudo, give your gorgeous husband a big wet sloppy kiss on the lips for me

Jamair 25th Jun 2007 10:37

Definitely time for NB to move on from TNK - reliable info that he was recently spotted doing needlepoint while watching a Austar movie about southern rednecks......

Chartair poorly managed

Morno You seem to be quick to point and shoot at management of chartair. If they were poorly managed would they still be round today given the history goes back to skyport days out of Alice flying shorts on scenics! Many people have gotten their time up there and have moved on the bigger and better things.
How many companys still make a decent profit in GA and are prepared to expand to get more business?
Opsnormal. If an aircraft is put together quickly as you said re TWP are you signing it out from maintenance? or are you a qualified LAME as well , they do there job so you have a job!

Keep up the good work guys and gals at chartair.

morno 25th Jun 2007 12:44

Pathie, I agree that it's been good management to get it to where it is, but I just think it has the potential to be much more than it currently is.

You look at a lot of companies, and in the last few years they've grown pretty well with this nice boom we're having. Yet I can't say I've seen much evidence of Chartair growing much beyond what it was 3-4 years ago.

They've moved the Chief Pilot and the General Manager to Darwin. What was wrong with Alice boys?? Darwin haven't had a proper permanent base for some time now (I wouldn't call operating out of Darwin Flying School exactly permanent).

I don't know, I just think the company is just slightly behind where it could really be. Entirely my own opinion though, and I respect anyone else's.

Having said that, I did enjoy my Chartair time, :ok:.

Paying for your own progression

I was speaking to a young guy from Chartair, probably about 12 months ago, he was telling me how he was flying the 210's and if he wanted to move onto the twins he'd have to pay for his endorsement first.

Does anyone know if this is normal policy? Alternatively they were going to hire someone who already had twin time, keeping this guy in the 210 for a bit longer.

I know the turbine operators have some sought of bonding/payment scheme, but has this practice filtered all the way down to "first twin job in GA" level? Soon you wont be able to hire an office b*tch unless they're prepared to pay for a CASA approved, Canon Photocopier Endorsement :*

Movements

Just out of curiousity, how are things in Darwin these days? Are there still a million pilots cleaning up GA hangers for free waiting for flying jobs or are the companies up there actually actively employing now days?

bush mechanics 27th Jun 2007 12:30

Wicta,
Crikeys you have had more starts than Pharlap, and yes RL did buy the x abo air building,It came with a complete set of caravan seat covers(new)about 20 life jackets(still in date),Nice!!!
Chartair is a very different place now that Major Mitchell left,"silly stuff silly stuff"Not long after he left RL went to TN and saw the state of the facilitys and did something about it,The major actually left him in the dark over a lot of things.
Now TWP,Yes its flying No it wasnt a quick rebuild(2 years)And it does fly straight when you trim it right,Put that litlle ball thingy in the middle!!!Yes it had some teathing problems.Any one whant some pics rooted on the trailer at the Devils Marbles!!ring me at work,Yes still at Chartair.
DH, mate im sure you never flew TWP after the rebuild, you might be talking TFI,anyways that wasnt a quick rebuild either.
Good to see everyone moveing on and hopefully happy!!you guys are Pilots so being happy maybe not!!HA HA
PS If you havent guessed Its me ,Paul Totani, and i dont realy care!!!

jackthelad 27th Jun 2007 15:13

the wizard of auz 28th Jun 2007 02:10

Hey Paul, how goes it ya goose. :}:ok: Long time dude.

tinpis 28th Jun 2007 03:17

Judging by the conspicuous increase in the longrass population due I would think to the B Rough Fatwa, I would imagine there will be a few more flights carting them all in to town
Hopefully soon followed by more flights carting them all out again once theyre full :hmm:

OpsNormal 28th Jun 2007 09:11

Been away from the computer for a few days Paulo, how goes it? Agreed I never got the oportunity to fly TWP again as I said, I last flew it early '04 and just asked if it was any quicker than it was before...... :bored: Congrats again on a second little Junior.

Pathie, suggest you ask Bush Mechanics why the TWP rebuild stopped so early on after being commenced if you'd really like to get the story from the source. It is good to see it flying again though. :D

The reliable workhorse

How is LTB going? Not much to look at, but geez she was a good aeroplane...(for a 210) Nice to fly, couldn't break it with sledge hammer.

bush mechanics 28th Jun 2007 10:55

gday mate, thanks, due late october.Soo im back to my favourite tile in the shower!!
congrats on the pencil!!
TWP took soo long as it was a hangar project when nothing else was doing.I thinks shes gppd for 145/150 TAS at the moment,Shes done nearly 400 hours since rebuild.Time permiting will start tweeking here and their.Should be good for 155 hopefuly. It cracked the ten thousand hour mark the other week. This leaves TFT and SJW under ten grand. All the 210s now on the CAPs
program(continous airwotheness program)Similar to the SIDs on 402s.Lots of eddy current inspections.
HZL is the next one out,90% finished engine and interior fit out and install new Garmin Stack,Yep we got new radios for her
Anyways hope all is well
Paolo

bush mechanics 28th Jun 2007 11:09

Pistol,LTBs going hard,Had a litle misshap at Mount Dare(dump strip OPs)taxied thru a wash out that stood out like dogs nuts, smashed 30 hour from new prop.Engine change out their new prop and she all good,Going to the paint shop next

morno 28th Jun 2007 11:49

Ahhhhh, the old girl, LTB, :ok:.

Not matter how much of a piece of sh!t it looked like, it was the best one to fly! Shame it just only ever had the 1 radio in it.

TFT wasn't bad, despite the shag pile interior. Quick bird that one.

DUXNUTZ 28th Jun 2007 16:31

I always thought IDZ was the Duxnutz. WMP after repaint was pretty shmick and KSS for a little while i got to fly it was like a dream.

Had no idea TWP was so low time. Wonder if the imprint from my forehead is still on the dash!

morno 29th Jun 2007 00:33

IDZ wasn't bad, but not the best out there. WMP was a bucket. May have looked nice, but christ it flew like crap. I swear I had a sore back everytime I got out of that thing. And it was slow!
