Darwins "Haunted" Corner

i see that Chartair has recently hung their shingle on the "haunted" corner in Darwin's GA.

hope they have better luck there than the previous (multiple) tenants.

perhaps it's the proximity of so many dead or dying aircraft on the apron that is bringing the mojo down.

and - Oeverells have sold. dunno if they are closing or not - anyone know?

Take your pick of corners- Arnhem Air corner, Exec Air corner or Aeroclub corner..... what were the other choices again?

Perhaps it would be prudent to stay away from Darwins GA apron altogether...

Chartair haven't really had a permanent home in Darwin at any time though. When they were working out of the Air North hangar I wouldn't have even called that a permanent home.

Best they have done was probably when they were next to Overell's there for a while.

Ahh well, bad management is the problem to things like that I guess.

I didn't think Chartair were that poorly managed? They seem to have been around for a while.

It would be a real shame if someone couldn't say something positive about a company once in a while.

If you can put aside the politics that happen in many small companies (even large GA companies) from time to time and actually enjoy the flying then your own stress levels wont suffer so much.

I was guilty of that for a while, however I enjoyed most of my (almost) three years at Chartair, even that trying time in Darwin where the "parent" company undercut the up and coming..... with their own aircraft.....

Life goes on. All the best to those still involved with the company, 'specially Fonz (Orrrrrr Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn!!!!), still down there in The Alice?

The Company will be probably still banging around in those aircraft in ten years from now!!!

Have they done anything about the TN base yet?

I can say that pretty much bugger all has been done to fix the TN base. From external appearances anyway.

Competition now exists on the field there too, and it serves them right if they're driven out (management that is, not the pilots who always have worked damn hard in that place for little thanks).

ITCZ your sentiments above are pretty much the same as mine.

The experience I got working for that mob in that place was only just worth the stress and aggravation. Somedays I don't think it really was worth it, and there's plenty of others I know who'd agree (I'm talking about people that worked there, not those who passed through from time to time).

Ops Normal, I heard a rumour that Fonz has left the building!! Well done maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!

Acording to many who used to work there, CHARTAIR already has it's own Haunted hangar.

For those who have worked a late night or early morning in the AS hangar/office, and have had the chills or even the foot steps on the stairs.

Maybe the ghosts even had the keys to Rogers magic cabinet, downstairs in the same hangar?.

Bit of a shame to hear the TN part of the company is/has/was having some trouble. It used to be a good show back in the early days of the second coming. Just really hard to sleep in the back room when the RAAF was night flying.

Huntsman

I presume you are refering to the old ARNHEM corner?
Though Virgindriver has a point, all the corners in the southern GA have a few bodies buried under them. Speaking of bodies, are the NT Police still in there?

This might be old and tired news but during my last glance around DN GA in 2006 - I didn't notice the company once operated by - lets just call him SW.

With the Fonz "gone" I don't think that there is anyone left who pre-dates about the end of 2005, apart from HM in DN, the Alice Ops team and PT in the hangar.

R-F-G. Aust. Jet have done wonders in removing all traces of that era.

Hey Flintstone, any further developments with that tome?

Sorry Huntsman, I was thinking about the end where the water flows too when it rains.

I must be bloody old, because I remember the night we put those demountables on a truck and drove them down 36 from the OLD southern GA area.
Roy, Bob, Ray and the rest of the wray mob.

TN in 04, way to late i was thinking more like 99

Airnorth building YPTN

Back in '04 the building needed a good coat of paint and something to be done with it. Are Chartair still using the building? We only had a few pilots there and it always seemed there was potential for a decent size base if only someone would spend some cash.... So who is the new operator on the field?

And where'd fonzie go?
