The usual...What, When, and When (the event anyway!!)

Nig and Nog,

My guess Maningrida (Or at least somewhere in the Territory as the AirNorth metro in the background helps).

A Cresco, made by pacific aircraft in Hamilton NZ.

A beefed up fletcher, the fletcher originally came out with a IO-540 ( 300 HP ).

But now the Cresco has a PT6-34A, with a panty ripping 750 HP.

Slackie, ZK-TMG thunder mustang, its not Walsh memorial (matamata) is it?

Got the horn 13th Jul 2007 09:37

Looks like ZK-TMG at Matamata during the Walsh. Damn I'm good!

troppo 13th Jul 2007 10:26

oh you guys!
the website on the nose gave away the type and right clicking the pic to see the file name said Walsh, so you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure out matamata as the location :hmm:

kiwi_hockey_guy 13th Jul 2007 10:40

well that was too much effort, i just saw the building in the background and the mobile airways "tower" and took a stab at it....

VH-BOX,
A Klemm Swallow?

Nig&Nog..........First is definitely TFC (Tennant F**k'n Creek) and would have to be mid to late nineties by the looks of the TL Metro in the background. I guess the second would have to be Batchelor.

Richo 13th Jul 2007 12:05

Nig&Nog

1st photo at Tennant Creek, refueling from the bowser. As someone said the AN metro is a bit of a give away.
2nd Batchelor aerodrome, ide say relweek as that would be the attraction most likely to draw an PC6 and a Skyvan to that beautifull spot.

Do I know you as I seem to remember both of those events all to clearly, which means I can't have been there really.

VH-BOX,
A Klemm Swallow?
No, its not a swallow, they are a bit larger aircraft. Something in the back of the old brain is saying "1940's - 50's French design", but I'm buggered if I can remember what it was.

Capt Fathom 14th Jul 2007 00:43

Convair 580.

Towering Q 14th Jul 2007 00:57

Errrr....yes....maybe not that difficult after all.

Loved the look of those big 'meat cleaver' prop blades.:E

slackie 14th Jul 2007 01:06

Yeh...ok...was a bit obvious...TMG was at the Walsh this year...Simon practiced his display for the Masterton Airshow en-route...first time in front of a crowd (under Bryan's watchful eye!)...and it looked pretty good to me!

Soulman 14th Jul 2007 01:25

Meat cleaver is an understatement! I stood next to one recently in Tasmania - one blade is almost 6ft tall and the better part of a foot and a half wide!

Must make a bird strike look pretty! :ok:

Wrooooong...originally a 220HP Continental
Tin has flown the 240 and 260 HP Contis . IO-540 upgrades began in the 60's

I doubt whether 750HP would rip anyones pants but it may be quieter.

Hard to tell given the quality of the pic. Mauboussin Corsaire, Farnborough?

Nope, not enough wingspan...but after stressing over it for a couple of days I think I have remembered! I believe it's a Druine Turbulent. The location is Sywell in Northants. Yes you are correct that Farnborough is older, but it has not been a public airfield for almost 80 continuous years like Sywell..
