Yes Peter,and at Leigh Creek
What was the lovely old restaurant in LC run by nice old lady?

Peter Fanelli 16th Mar 2007 07:08

Beats me, I used to pass through Leigh Creek frequently, even at the old airport which is just a big hole now. But never spent much time in the actual town. (New or old)

slinky daddy 16th Mar 2007 07:13

:ooh: Theres a "new" airport?

Keg 16th Mar 2007 07:37

A couple from further afield.

This one isn't Australia! :} I know where it is but I'm not 100% sure of it's name.

This one is a bit further on. The PM went here very recently.

Keg, is it Mt. Hotham (YHOT) airport and an aerial view of Mt. Hotham?

PS2A_yay! 17th Mar 2007 02:05

Coolcat. Keg said it wasnt in Oz!

Keg - my guess is Courchevel (Not sure on spelling) in France. And the second one somewhere in Afghanistan. I do believe our greatful PM just came back from there after visiting the boys in uniform.

Slinky daddy - I also didnt know there was a "new" airport at LEC. Hopefully the lovely Rosie is still refuelling! I remember the good ole days when she would come out to refuel us in her pyjamas, with freshly made sandwiches for us all!!

VH-WTF 17th Mar 2007 02:13

If only Oz had that much snow.. would almost make living here worthwhile..
Somewhere Swiss I think.. Ecuvillens? Though don't recall eyebrows going there.. tough one!

Shifted

They shifted the whole town and the aerodrome, because there was coal underneath it.

Yes the lovely Rosie is still there, I paid her a visit not that long ago. But she was never in the old town. I think you might be confusing her with Trixie, the lady Rosie took over the business from. Sadly both Trixie & her husband Don passed away within a month of each other last year.

Swanie 17th Mar 2007 12:13

any guesses?? should be pretty easyhttp://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...02-07_1624.jpg

Peter Fanelli 17th Mar 2007 12:25

I believe a tiny piece of the old Leigh Creek Airport is still visible on Google Earth, see if you can find it.
Hint...It's north of the location of the old town which is also still there.

Nil Flaps 17th Mar 2007 13:14

G'day Swanie....

That'd be Bunbury WA, my local haunt.

Towering Q 17th Mar 2007 22:45

Any takers for another WA coastal town?

Towering Q 18th Mar 2007 01:29

Zhaadum, try a little further south.

the wizard of auz 18th Mar 2007 01:41

looks a little like Canarvon......... with the facine in the foreground and the gascoyne river a little further out.
The picture about three pages back labeled another nice day in the west (or sumint like that) is Broome...... about four mile final Rwy 28.

VH-MLE 18th Mar 2007 06:07

TCU

Definitely Carnarvon - I can see my old house (just) at 29 Douglas St.

Cheers.
