Here are a few pics of my Archer during the avionics upgrade currently under way:

Picasa Web Albums - Stephan - Archer during...

Sunair ASB-130 HF, KR-85 ADF, KMA-20/SPA-400 audio panel/intercom coming out, KR-87 ADF, GNS-530 GPS/NAV/COM with indicator, WX-500 Stormscope, second marker receiver KR-21 for Nav2 (keeping the KX-175B) and GMA-340 audio panel going in. Minor works include avionics master switch installation, new intercom and coax wiring, etc.

Sorry for the quality of the pics, I only had my mobile on me..

BTW, if anyone is interested in any of the (working when removed, ADF recently overhauled) avionics I am taking out, please PM me!

Here is a pic of my Tobago in its paddock.:{

http://www.bja.com.au/ext/TOIinfield.jpg

The other owner was flying it when the noise just stopped. It didnt shed bits of engine, both tanks have fuel in them and electric boost pump and carby heat did nothing.

Now if you can guess the location of the field?:D

Bevan..

Ex FSO GRIFFO 11th Dec 2008 10:39

OOOOPS.....

That's sad Bevan. Looks like its head down, a#$e up, 'avin a good feed.

Wheels up was it, or did they get broke? (Genuine curiousity...)

Don't know 'bout the location of the said field, but it looks healthy enuf.

Central Western NSW??:ok::ok:

Horatio Leafblower 11th Dec 2008 10:46

G'day Bevan

I am thinking somewhere in the vicinity of Quirindi :ok:

ABX 11th Dec 2008 10:52

Bevan, Linfield perhaps?:)

BrazDriver 11th Dec 2008 14:35

So I should be on the lookout for bits of prop in my breakfast cereal?

J3pipercub. If there was an award for the photo of the year on this thread, that photo would be a serious contender.:D:D

Also, I can now continue to lurk without getting nagged at to post a comment etc etc etc, Geez they are worse than the missus:*:ok:

I am thinking somewhere in the vicinity of Quirindi
Somewhere near Scone????

ABX 11th Dec 2008 22:44

Hey Doc

Chimbu Chuck?
Or is it Jaba? Hard to tell since I've never met them in person...

PyroTek 11th Dec 2008 23:37

Next question:
Where? :ok:

ABX 11th Dec 2008 23:44

Where?
Enroute to or from YCAB, WRT the PBY Catalina.

Bevan666 12th Dec 2008 00:43

I am thinking somewhere in the vicinity of Quirindi
Bloody close!:ok:

Bevan..

ForkTailedDrKiller 12th Dec 2008 02:28

Good one Pyro! Lots of clues for the punters there.

A piece of sky somewhere?

Dr :8

ABX 12th Dec 2008 02:43

Doc,

How about my answer in post #4118 above?

Quote:
Where?

ForkTailedDrKiller 12th Dec 2008 06:25

Enroute to or from YCAB, WRT the PBY Catalina
ABX, yes you are correct - enroute from YCAB to somewhere! Pretty amazing how you figured that out from Pyro's post !!

Sorry - don't understand the "WRT" bit!

Dr :8

ABX 12th Dec 2008 06:32

WRT = With Regard To.

I knew Chuck, Jaba and yourself had been to see the Catalina. Even saw the footage Jaba shot on YouTube.

Just put 2 and 2 together and made... 3.5?

Cheers.

PyroTek 12th Dec 2008 10:48

Its like one of those extended problems, there are plenty of clues on the net to know where we were at the time... Just gotta look!

Clue: Youtube!

HardCorePawn 16th Dec 2008 21:57

Some more for the homesick Kiwi's... Unfortunately, I am unable to claim them as mine... they were taking by a clubmember flying to Napier via Taupo and National Park...

Compass?

What does that GPS do to the compass?

Stormynights 20th Dec 2008 06:39

got a GPS dont need a compass ...lol
if certified wont affect it

compressor stall 20th Dec 2008 10:44

What, where, and what two things are unusual....?

(My Facebook friends are excluded from answering :E) ) http://www.remoteadventures.com/webpics/efis.jpg

Lasiorhinus 20th Dec 2008 10:51

Your compass is in degrees true.

You have a slight nose-high attitude and a slight rate of descent.

compressor stall 20th Dec 2008 10:59

Yes, degrees true is one answer.... so it should help you answer where ... ?

The nose high and slight descent is probably very light chop causing that instantaneous reading - not what I was after.

And what else is odd....?

Lasiorhinus 20th Dec 2008 11:03

On second thoughts, because you fly in Penguinistan, its actually not unusual at all for you to be reading degrees true.

The other odd thing is you appear to be in range of a VOR over there...

compressor stall 20th Dec 2008 11:05

Very good Lasiorhinus, top of the class, but before you walk up the aisle there, what is ZPG...? :p

kingRB 20th Dec 2008 11:06

hmmm, LAVIS = S 76 11 01.8, E 165 51 24.3

Any fotos outside the flight deck windows while you down that neck of the woods? :ok:

Lasiorhinus 20th Dec 2008 11:14

Lemme guess...

Its a TACAN.

compressor stall 20th Dec 2008 11:20

All too easy :D . I might have to make it harder next time.

While I think of something, here's something for your enjoyment.

http://www.remoteadventures.com/webpics/pegfinal.jpg

ForkTailedDrKiller 20th Dec 2008 11:54

Stallie, do you have VASI, PAPI or the like onto that runway?

Peter Fanelli 20th Dec 2008 13:15

Looks a bit like landing at Alton Downs

VH-XXX 20th Dec 2008 19:37

"What does that GPS do to the compass?"

Easy! It supersedes it...
