I'm singing... or perhaps you can tell us the address of your Photobucket files?

tinpis 3rd May 2006 02:11

Yes please Hugh.:ok:

I think the Beagle was being used by a helo mob in POM ???? Airfast ???...dunno to long ago.:ugh:

poteroo 3rd May 2006 12:00

[B]VH-UNC Beagle 206 Airfast Charter ex Helicopter Utilities[B]

I was Airfast's weekend Aztec driver at the time, and was hanging out for an endorsement on the big Pom tank. Luckily, I didn't get near it !!

The Beagle suffered a blown pot on the LH (?) engine on t/o from 32L at Jacksons in about late 1968 or early 1969. It went off the end and through the cattle yards on the DASF animal research station which used to be there..Moitaka??

I think it was written off? No injuries that I remember - just wounded egos. PIC was much older than myself...he also flew choppers, and I think served with the RAAF on Mustangs in Korea.

happy days,

Animalclub 3rd May 2006 22:40

Moitaka ended up being a crocodile farm... at least it was when I was last in POM.

tinpis 4th May 2006 00:42

Just curious, does anyone know the cost of a litre of ULP in PNG?

troppo 4th May 2006 01:31

tin,
dunno...but i wish i had kept some of the gold I was buying of the locals in Wau and Bulolo...

oh yeah...observing a local buying a small amount of mercury in a trade store in bulolo one day...
salesman...sori tru, nogat liklik sumting for dispela
local...emi orait... (as he holds out his hand!)

I guess it was like selling them petrol/kero in a plastic shopping bag...they would be happy until they got half way down the road and the bag would melt or leak.

tinpis 4th May 2006 01:47

Am just curious.
I would be cranky if it were less than here because the oz taxpayer is subsidising it.

troppo 4th May 2006 02:56

here ya go tin...from last month...
http://www.postcourier.com.pg/20060410/news03.htm
hate to tell ya but it's cheaper...:}

Chimbu chuckles 4th May 2006 03:27

Ahhh for the good old days when 1PNGK = USD1.05.:}

What is the south pacific peso worth now to the Oz$?

Must admit that Oz fuel prices are llttle more than acedemic though....53 cents a liter here for premium:E

Having said that $1.53 for avgas a few days ago in Brissy hurt:ugh:

Woomera 4th May 2006 05:59

Aus$ 1.00 = NGK 2.39 or NGK 1.00 = Aus$ 0.42. When I left in 1985 NGK 1 was worth Aus$ 1.35.

I guess even an SP Brownie must now be around K8 to K10 at the Temple of Aeros?

30 years ago I could buy SP and San Mig/Swan at staff prices - $4.50 per slab!!! Now it costs that for one stubbie??

No doubt inflation has hit prices in "the world's oldest profession"? I guess K2 would not even get a look in at Six Mile or the old Lae Airstrip (not rthat I would know!!) :=

Fris B. Fairing 4th May 2006 06:10

RV6-VNE

Beagle 206 VH-UNC crashed on 19 Feb 1969.

Animalclub Last time I was in Moitaka with my good friend Chimbu Chuckles, it was a runway so to speak. happy days, eh Chuckles.??

Chimbu chuckles 5th May 2006 00:13

Yup....how many speedy car tracks have their very own landing strip adjacent:} :{

Woomera I would suggest K2.00 wouldn't even by a stamp at the Lae Post Office these days...let alone a mouth to lick it :}

Crossbleed 5th May 2006 05:47

Is the P-39 still quietly rusting away at the aeroclub in POM??

Bus driver 5th May 2006 10:14

Nogot K2 meri's

As part of, one of the new boys initiation to Lae the other week after a night at the yachty, I told him I knew a girl that wanted to meet him and while getting him to wind his window down, abruptly stopped infront of a girl at the post office. Talk about quick hands, they were all over him before the car even stopped................thou past rumours suggest the car is well known in that part of town (could account for some of those mystery stains on the back seat)

Anyways she was wanting something crazy like K20-30. Long gone are those K2 days i'm affraid. Thank god an SP can still be got for K4 at the yachty.

OzExpat 5th May 2006 14:54

If you're really silly, you can pay much more than that in Moresby, Bus driver. Rates start around K50 in some places, but that's often just a bargaining ploy... or so I'm told, anyway!;)

Chimbu chuckles 6th May 2006 02:53

:yuk: Would you like AIDS with that Masta:ugh:

Anyone tempted by the jungle bunnies should wear two condoms...with a liberal application of dencorub between....that way if either one breaks you'll know:}

Taildragger 6th May 2006 10:58

Chuckles Can't be sure, but that sounds like the voice of experience..! :} :yuk:

OzExpat 8th May 2006 07:49

And, of course, if you need more than 2 condoms, you're probably dealing with a really sizeable problem! :eek:

Woomera 8th May 2006 22:31

Even at K2 it would be overpriced!! :yuk:

Time for some decorum I think! :}
