I wonder how many will be returned intact and undamaged?:}

My guess is........Zero!

Kagamuga 19th Jan 2019 04:57

I would have thought the
handing out' of the APEC vehicles would have been along the lines of a HIRE car?
Name, address, phone number of the driver? No of course not... this is PNG

Capt Fathom 19th Jan 2019 05:26

Who are they selling them to? Anyone in-country?
I could just picture your Bentley parked in the ANG carpark. :}

tail wheel 19th Jan 2019 05:36

I read some where that the Bentleys and Maserati are all accounted for.

But 1,000 vehicles bought for APEC? 100 vehicles missing?

Unbelievable, even in the Land of the Unexpected!

Octane 19th Jan 2019 06:41

How many km of roads are there in PNG that a Maserati could cope with? 10? :}

Depends on who is driving. I know a few Highlanders that could easily get it from Lae to Tari. Whether it would be useable again is another matter. :E

One of the releases said all the Maserati and Bentleys are "accounted for". Another 100 missing...........

tashenko, apec minister and o'steal assured the country the Masserati's and Bently's were locked up in a shed. make good boi houses. It was well publicised that most apec delegates refused to travel in the Massers and Bently's because of the poor image created by being associated with those two brands. Only the prima donnas used them..
The country is starving.. flooding in POM and roads cut from Kairuku to POM mean villagers are starving, no fresh water to drink. Medical supplies are not available in outlying areas.
My friend went to Haus sik (POM General)last week feeling unwell with a sore throat, and after waiting 5 hours was told she had Ghonorea! Utter crap.. went to another doctor an hour later and was diagnosed with Influenza, again bull**** so I sent her to ELA beach and paid for a better doctor, 5 mins later after small fish bone removed from throat, all is good.

APEC money well spent .............. one of the poorest countries and basic health is not available in the capital city... Pass me the phone book, I need to find the "Sandline" number; they still have their CASA 212, and C337 parked at POM :)

Kagamuga 19th Jan 2019 13:11

For the next team of mercenaries, we can do a special deal, ex Sandline parked at POMhttps://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....a6cdcd6da4.jpg

Duck Pilot 19th Jan 2019 22:42

The 212 looks good in the photo compared to its condition now, saw it the other day and it’s outside, looks like the rubber has thrashed itself off in the wind.

I’m surprised that the NAC haven’t cottoned onto the idea of scrapping the lot and getting a few Kina back in scrap aluminium, with the F28s and the numerous GA aircraft left to rot and the shortage of tarmac space and the eye sore factor, it would make better sense to chop them up even old P2-CAA in the hangar.

Sadly it’s time to move on.

Kagamuga 20th Jan 2019 04:55

Hi Duck..

The CASA and C337 pic are 2014 vintage, regardless the camera does cover up some sins! Missing is the Cessna C305 Bird dog, as that was stolen.

Duck Pilot 20th Jan 2019 05:48

Didn’t know there was ever a Bird Dog in the collection as well, stolen? Any ideas where it might have ended up?

Anyone know if the ex Sandline helicopters are still down in a hangar at Tindal?

P2-GKP was a Be55 Baron flown by John Fox, a mixed race PNG National, from what I can remember.
I was involved in the search (I was in ATC) but no sign was ever found of the wreckage.

Further mention of the loss (25 October 1977) of Baron P2-GKP here: https://www.pprune.org/archive/index.php/t-511439.html

The passengers were Dept of Health staff. It is believed John ran out of options when the weather closed in. His widow lived at Horn Island a few years ago.

Hasn't flown in a while

Called in to Kundiawa for lunch last week.
Air Niugini doesn't go there anymore, and I haven't heard anyone else using it.
I didn't see M'sieu Gerard, although the locals said he's still in town.
His aircraft remains parked at the strip.

BBC News reports that nearly 300 APEC vehicles are missing and a special Police division being set up to recover the. Many damaged and likewise stripped for parts. Apparently the Maserati's and Bentley's are locked away; of course we all know that means nothing …..

lucille 14th Feb 2019 04:22

Wonder how much it will cost to liberate one of those Bentleys or even a Maserati with the necessary paperwork to legally put it on a boat to CNS? I’m assuming that they are still in country and haven’t been smuggled out to Malaysia.
