Taildragger
Remember that cartoon you sent me from the Cairns Post in 1990 depicting two crusty old B4 types in the Colonial Club , one saying to the other re PNG unrest..." Boots Farnshawe - that's what caused this - should never have put the blacks in boots !." |
G'day Sharpie. If I'm wrong, I'll happily admit it and most certainly buy you the said beers. But what or earth did you find in either of those editions of the Posguria that I missed?
Or is it something that might be open to other interpretations? ;) Fortunately, I still have Friday's edition, plus today's of course, so will try to go back through both of them a bit later on. :ok: |
Hanoi Moi, mon brave.?? I wouldn't pass on the British National Party manifesto like that.!! Mind you, I should pass it on to the Tories, they seem to like that sort of stuff.!!
I do remember it though...as I recall, it did cause a chuckle or two over the cuisine in the Management Fine Dining room at Air Niugini. Mmmmmmmm... Do you remember the '93 Chateau Bomana served ny those classicaly trained waiters.? It had a bouquet like a Chimbu Meri's Armpit. |
The Popondetta club was the place for old plantation types.
The stories that flowed there would make a luvvies hair stand on end. BTW does anyone remember the airstrip near Guria that had all the jap shells stacked up on the side of it ? |
like a Chimbu Meri's Armpit. Canned Fish... there's a shedload of strips around Girua that would probably meet that description. But I suspect that the place you're thinking of is Dobuduru - one of a couple in the area that were subsequently rebuilt, by the Americans, with parallel runways. |
Taildragger; Ozexpat beat me to it! I am also curious, just how do you know what a Chimbu Princess's armpit smells like? One would be most interested to know.:E
You only live twice. Once when you're born. Once when you've looked death in the face. |
'Cos Son... we have been there and even at this late stage. an
odour takes you right back, to the time, the place, and the sweet meri. Now there is an Oxymoron if ever I heard one.! |
Well what can I say mate? Didn't you have time to deploy the delousing and shower facilities? :p I still work on the principle that a bloke can forgive a sheila for anything except being ugly! :}
I'm prepared to bet that, by your choice of the Chimbu species, you lost out on that principle too! :D |
Sem bilong mi!!!;) I must confess that one one occasion when having arrived at Kundiawa and stetching the legs before heading off to Mt Hagen I saw (and spoke with) a local Meri whom was in fact quite an attractive lass.
Turned out that she was the company office girl there! You only live twice. Once when you're born. Once when you've looked death in the face. |
If they were starting to look attractive, Pinky, you were obviously there too long! :}
Just found an interesting site here. The following is attributed to Larry Danielson and contains the warning: Since Danielson wrote and performed in the period which pre-dated Whitlamite colonial deconstruction, his material was unapologetically politically incorrect (the term hadn\'t even been invented!) and was robustly racist. It may offend more sensitive souls. Once a jolly Chimbu, camped by a marshy swamp Under the shade of a kokonas tree Andy sat, Andy watched, Andy waited while his meri worked, Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? Kai kai the buai, kai kai the buai! Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? Andy sat, Andy watched, Andy waited while his meri worked, Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? Down came a puk puk to was was in the marshy swamp Up jumped the Chimbu and grabbed him with glee, Andy sang as shoved the puk puk in his bilum bag, You'll come and kai kai the buai with me! Kai kai the buai, kai kai the buai! Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? Andy sang as shoved the puk puk in his bilum bag, You'll come and kai kai the buai with me! Down came the kiap mounted on his wili wil, Down came the didiman, wan, tu, tri, Where's the jolly puk puk you've got in your bilum bag'? You'll come and kai kai the buai with me! Kai kai the buai, kai kai the buai! Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? Where's the jolly puk puk you\'ve got in your bilum bag? You'll come and kai kai the buai with me! Up jumped the chimbu and jumped into the marshy swamp You'll never take me alive said he! ghostly Andy's purri may be heard as you pass by the marshy swamp Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? Kai kai the buai, kai kai the buai! Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? ghostly Andy's purri may be heard as you pass by the marshy swamp Who'll come and kai kai the buai with me? |
Pinky One should never fly when one is so pissed that a Chimbu Meri begins to look like someone that one would give one one. Does one understand.??
|
Taildragger Sir: I'll have you know that I was as sober as a Judge.......er....let me rephrase that. One had not been drinking either before or during the flight to Kundiawa!:ok:
Think Woomera may have got it right, 'though I'd only been there just over a year in total at the time. But in answer to your admonition; yes, one does understand indeed!!:E You only live twice. Once when you're born. Once when you've looked death in the face. |
Jolly Puk Puk (nogat pekpek)
Womera Old Chasp!
I left my(printed with artwork) copy of Larry's song back home. So, May I suggest that you run-off a few copies of yours and distribute same at the reunion. It could well be enough to bring the house down with 200 voices giving the chorus a few encores! :E |
Why not invite Larry (if hes free:rolleyes: ) to bring his geetar to the do?
|
Sharpie
You could also include others of Larry's repertoire.... The streets of Mt Hagen ( Sung to the tune of Streets of Laredo ). Kisim meri , mi no save Masta ( Sung to Everybody loves Saturday Night ). |
larry d
Tinpis,
larry d, was convicted, as the Woolworth's bomber. he did not serve the full term out, to my knowledge and was deported back to nz, never to return to Oz. If, however you do see him, ask him to return my Pentax camera. robroy |
TAA Sunbird site
Have just found a great new site on D & G Questions,
Pull up, TAA SUNBIRD Great stuff. apinun robroy |
Came across a few 185 regos in the old log book KRD , EIE , CMS??
Anyone remember them? I recall EIE was Very quick. |
Last time I saw KRD (or the fuselage of it) was in the Talair compound at Mendi. I think it suffered a bout of silence shortly after takeoff from Nipa, but that was before I started in PNG.
The wreck (actually not badly damaged) disappeared after a while; probably a boi haus by now. |
.....or flying in New Zealand..
