Cobham Special Mission
Gday,
Just wondering what the lifestyle and pay is like at Cobham Special mission these days? Has it changed after the sale of the business?
Cheers,
Stan dard

Keen to know salaries and benefits as well for both captains and FO’s as well as the above OP’s queries. Last I heard about 3 or 4 years ago an FO salary was about 95K which lets face it is rubbish. Any improvements since then?

Thanks for all the replies. I still haven't been able to get a figure on FO and CA salary and lifestyle, if anyone can elaborate further, either on the forum or PM, it would be appreciated.
Any word on the other positions eg spotters? Doesn’t reek of a healthy workplace culture with the vacancy levels but I concede it could be other factors
I did an assessment in the 604 sim a few years ago. Most disorganized assessment I have ever had. My sim buddy was a dash 8 check Capt who knew less about flying jets than me (I had a little 320 sim time).
No profile or speeds were given (this is on purpose I was told) so I just had to wing it. My sim buddy missed flap and gear call outs leaving me having to fly the sim single pilot.
I was very annoyed by the end and they both knew it. Out of the three of us who had sims I was the only one who got a no. The two that started both left during training to better operators.
After the other two had dropped out they then offered me the job. I politely declined.

Question regarding their recent job ad - wanted Dash 8 captains to have an ATPL theory credit.
Would they hire a captain who ticks the flying experience requirements but doesn't have the ATPL theory credit or does anyone know someone who is a Dash 8 captain with them and doesn't have their subjects completed? Are there any progression opportunities for their FO's who don't have the theory credit?
Interested to hear your thoughts!

You require an ATPL to operate the Dash 8 as a Captain, you can't command it with a CPL.
As my old theory instructor used to say, don't leave home without the ATPL theory passes.

100% agree with you mate. In the process of doing mine at the moment. I was just curious as to why they were hiring direct entry captains with the ATPL theory credit only, not the licence. Check out their recent job ad 👍
You need the theory credit (+ all the other requirements) so that when they do your type rating, they can incorporate the ATPL flight test into it, so you can operate Left seat, (once your ATPL has been issued).

correct, however, regardless of if you have a cpl with credit or a full atpl leidos will require you to do an atpl flight test before you take command of a dash or 604.
