megan I would only say all are north of the award and by a fair bit - and it is a invitation only club.

So being on a high horse wont help, nor thinking being anonymous for a nice market be a benefit.

"Thanks dude. I have about 7,000 hours total time, mostly all in amphibious turbines, including multi-engine turbine floatplanes. CASA ATPL, FAA ATP, Canadian CPL, EASA CPL. Right to live and work in Australia."

They will already know you if you tell truths. Also if you have not!

They probably don’t know me, but they will certainly know many people I know! There are few of us from Australia with mulit-englie seaplane time. However I have not been in Australia for over 10 years, so I’m out of the loop.
I know that years ago they didn’t pay on the Mallard what ‘we’ can earn in the Maldives and alike on the Twin Otter. But these days, I have no idea what they pay, hence my question. I bet it would be awesome flying either way!

And with all these people you know and being such a small niche group, you weren't able to reach out to any of them to ask these questions and get direct answers?

Yes, I have managed that now. All my friends Aussies working on Floats are no longer in Australia, they all moved out for more money years ago. Hence I asked here..but I have some answers now via networking. Thanks, bye!

pera hits the old nail right on the head ("you can lead a horse to water. . .. " The superior undercurrent of brash resentment is what bugs me.)

They probably prefer captains with less attitude and an ability to understand the written word.

...and those Grummans look just grand with the turboprop fit out, no precarious turning of the prop before starting so as not to hydraulic the engine.

There is flying and there is flying.

Then they look to come home to roost.

But don't want the R/H seat or the pay that follows & any seniority gone.

The Maldives in the years gone as an expat - don't help in the later years Nor do the African ones.

P.S keep a tab on self worth of a position, and Darwin can be a harsh place to live more so with a family, that said having lived there I think more than 3 decades in total.

And on top of the Maldives for floats, there's The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Indonesia (probably Thailand again soonish too) pros and cons working in each, but the money is way more than working in Australia. The Mallard would be damn fun though!

Are you people actually kidding?

The OP asked for conditions. It's not exactly published anywhere like most airline contracts are with fairwork (or on this VERY WEBSITE where every other airline's salaries are stated), so it's a valid question. The man (woman?) didn't ask for life advice on how to apply for a job, minimum requirements or to be judged on how many or little hours he (or she) has on floats.

sake - 31 posts later and it still hasn't been answered.

I'm with RomeoCharlie here - Jesus, the guy, Mr Springer, asks a simple question and gets torn apart. And then some toolbox called bendalot has the hide to say Mr Springer can't even tell the truth. What a bunch of wankers - and I'm so disappointed Ive lowered myself to do the same.

Next time someone asks a question - if you know the answer provide it, if you don't then shut the fark up
