Anyone know what they pay and conditions are for Captains and FOs on the Paspaley Mallards out of Darwin?

What he’s trying to say is there’s only so many captain slots for those aircraft which are already spoken for. Said captains will only move on when they die and/or retire hopefully the latter. If it’s a great gig and they like the job there’s no reason for them to to go anywhere.

Oh ok. I figured megan was saying she has “no idea” about pay and conditions, yet she somehow knows I’d have little chance as a Captain, even though she has know idea about pay and conditions.. I’m just wondering how accurate this information is, if she has “no idea” about it.
Some actual facts would be great, rather than vague guesswork!

Little more info from yourself would be useful JS. If you want to know the basic pay level then I'm sure you've already checked the Award and it's pretty hard to tell you if you could expect anything above award without knowing what your skill levels are.

Also, have you tried contacting them directly?

Also Megan I'd say is dead on, I remember seeing them advertise for FO positions once or twice but I can't remember ever seeing them advertise for Captains, I'd expect it'd be rather like the Captains at Air Whitsundays, the positions don't come up very often as they are fairly niche and would undoubtedly be very well looked after to keep them.

They probably prefer captains with less attitude and an ability to understand the written word.

Thanks dude. I have about 7,000 hours total time, mostly all in amphibious turbines, including multi-engine turbine floatplanes. CASA ATPL, FAA ATP, Canadian CPL, EASA CPL. Right to live and work in Australia.
I didn’t bother listing that before as it’s not relevant to what their terms and conditions currently are - which is what my question was about.

I have not worked in Australia for awhile, so I’m not up with the award anymore. I doubt there is even an award listed for Multi-Engine Flying Hull.

From what I understand they don’t advertise for Captains as there are very few of us from/in Australia with Multi-engine seaplane time. They simply can’t find qualified people, so they upgrade from their Co-pilots, who are easier to hire.

I spoke with them years ago, and the pay was not great so I didn’t pursue it. I’m curious if anyone knows what the pay is now, I might drop them a line, but I’m not sure they’ll give details of term and conditions unless offering a job.

Captains at Air Whitsundays - can’t imagine they are getting paid much these days either, but I hope they are!

I can say I’m 14 or 268, and the current Pay and Conditions on the Paspaley Mallard won’t change a cent.

You might be qualified for a CA position there but there simply aren’t any CA positions for reasons stated in my previous post. The CA’s currently flying that gig have no intention to move on, it’s that simple.

And if you really thought outside the box, you could ring and ask to talk to a pilot in the crew room..... if you had the phone number. Damn.

I am not sure Nick would allow a CP to even read a CV, from a Jerry Springer. Nick does have high standards including the Mallard fleet.

I had a bit to do with the old CP of the Mallards again I think they will be in low numbers over the Paspaly Mallard history, don't even ever recall hearing a complaint from any pilot in that fleet - but there will of course be a few. I had contact - but not close contact with them.

I just hope you are not American or your name choice is very poor to be taken remotely seriously.

So this chap in a crewroom gets a call from someone he doesn’t know, and then tells this stranger how much his employer is paying him, and what his terms and conditions are...yeah, ok...

Just to round the thread off, was told at dinner tonight they have six crews, work five days on two off, dry season work your butt off, wet season work two or three days and the rest reserve, very little turn over, FO slot perhaps every two or three years, and to get a job it will be on the recommendation of some one who knows you. Salary north of the award, how much is an in house arrangement. So the rumour has it, any or all could be wrong.
