...and join the Liberals! You mean that group currently to the left of Labor. Biggest disappointment of a party, ever.

Dick, just be an annoying, thorn in their side independent. Tony Windsor ran the country for a while and he wasn't even the deputy PM.

I wasn't standing up for Tony Windsor at all!!! Just shows how one person can affect things.
Not saying Labor better than Libs either. The whole political process is enormously depressing at the moment with no-one worth voting for.

C'mon Dick, get a wriggle on.

I gather that Dick will not, now that Bronnie has been chopped consider standing in the seat of Mackellar?
That's a pity as the libs are represented there now by Jason Falinski, someone with a political outlook somewhere to the left of Christine Milne.

Waiting to be called as DIKTATOR, but keep this secret.

All ATCs and Professional pilots will be given huge salary increases so you will all luv me and say nice things about me on prune.

Oh I forgot. Last minute edit.

CASA budget will be doubled with all money coming from the Treasury. No user pays . Special chief on spending will come from the Cargo Cult Party.

Bloggs will be put in charge of all airspace wind backs . RFFS will be put back in at all secondary airports and Wynyard in Tasmania. Operational Control will be given back to ATCs. Briefing Offices all re opened.

Australia's unique " safer " certification requirements will be re introduced. Prescriptive requirements for fixed wing and helicopter landing areas also re introduced

It will be so much safer..

Wait for it. The Victor Lane will be closed as per the two year campaign against its introduction by Ex Military Herc Pilot and Ex CASA Inspector , the late John Green. Full flight planning and clearance requirements will replace the lane. More approach controllers will be employed to handle the traffic - no clearances available if the cross runway is in use.

Full position reporting will be re introduced for all VFR aircraft that fly for more than 50 nm or above 5000'. Dubbo and Tennant Ck Flight Service will be re opened.

WOW Dick, does that mean we get a Briefing Office back in Backstown with those ever so nice guys behind the counter.

Even I would vote for that, instead we have a wonderful "Terminal" that is always locked and empty.

Full reporting, AH I can even remember when the weathers guys went on strike and you couldn't fly more than 50nm, until some smartie worked out BK to KAT to BTH to ORG to DU was just possible with touch and go's inbetween with no weather forecast.

Yair. There will be the friendly bloke who takes the plan . That's a Flight Service Officer.

Then there will be the slightly grumpy bloke who grabs the plan, checks the time intervals, then stamps the plan. That's the Operational Control bloke who was put in after the Kyeema ran into Mt Dandening in 1938. In that crash the pilot wrote the wrong time intervals on the plan and let down too late.

I pointed out when I became Chairman of CASA in 1990 that we now had DME and Radar.

But I will definitely put the SOCs back on. Bloggs will like that.

Griffo: Will you at least carefully tear off copies of the NOTAMs that you've decided are relevant to my flight, and staple them together for me?

Dick: I don't understand why you didn't take the opportunity to say something about airspace reform when you were interviewed about the Perfumed Baracuda's political demise.

So Dick what are we going to do about a super-moderate Liberal in Bronies old seat? There needs to be an alternate offering.

Don't forget the coffee that was made for you while you did the flight plan.

Might have only been Nescafe 43 bean, but some of them FSO'S were mighty good baristas.

Also some of them smoked like a chimney, and you could legally log 0.2 I/F while doing your plan as there air was thick with smoke!

Oh Goody!! FSOs back again!

Yers; The ones that cast a steely eye upon ones VFR Flight Plan from YPPF to wherever, and, like a schoolmaster of the 60s pointed out an error, however slight, and issued a stern admonition to go back and 'do it again and get it right!!'

For the record; Pinky the Pilot would cheerfully pay more in fees if only we could have that back again!

And the last 8 posts are fairly well on the mark!

As an aside; OK Griffo; Would you go back if it was offered?
A genuine question BTW.

You lucky bugger, Stationair 8; Never ever scored a coffee M'self. But did have one FSO bot a smoke off me! I was smoking JPS at the time and he had just run out!!

Best Flight Service was Dubbo. Would even order a taxi.

Except in the later days - they would always arrange for the local newspaper reporter to be " accidentally " at the airport whenever I would land.

" are you closing down Flight Service at Dubbo" I would be asked. " No way " I would fib.

However it was Brian O ' Keefe and his brilliant Aussat that resulted in the remote FS stations closing. So don't entirely blame me.

Remember Cooma? And Coffs ? And even little Ceduna - Yes Even Derby- or am I mistaken. Surely Derby was to small to have Flight Service ?

And what about Lord Howe Island. I will definitely get that one going again for Griffo. House provided of course.

That reminds me of the scene from 'Hogan's Heroes' where Colonel Hogan is in Colonel Klink's office. Suddenly, Major Hochstetter bursts in and looks at Hogan. "What is this man doing here?"

I'm rather sure that 'Pinky the pilot' still remembers all the words from the whole series...
