Viewpoints are based on what one has experienced and seen, so I do accept your points as valid.
However, I am not saying that the small amount of training given will necessarily save poor Bloggs if he/her inadvertantly enters IMC, just that little bit of training may be that bit that does save his/her life (and admittedly) that is a very little "may", but better than "no may".
Glass vs Steam, there I can only rely on my experiences, ..when I instructed it was most definitely Steam

But when I flew both, I knew where the AH, etc was in all cases..(admittedly that was with many IRR's under the belt).
Anyway, good to discuss the issue without proponents being condescending and rude to each other.
