Proof that DAS Skidmore is a new broom
Your shiftiness is also quite telling, Sybil!
BTW: I'd urge you not to do what you said you would do in the circumstances I described. Do not correct your logbook. You'd commit a criminal offence, punishable by a fine of $9,000: CASR 61.355(2).
CASR 61.355 is worth reading twice. It reveals much about the mindset of the regulator.

What a load of bollocks.
You can correct your log book any time. You wrote it anyway!
Surely you have a duty to have a complete and CORRECT logbook?
As long as you clearly just draw a line through the error and write the new figure next to it. Don't use correction fluid/tape liquid paper etc.

Read CASR 61.355.
There is a chance that "unaltered" means what it says, and that CASA intended the word to have that meaning.
The risk to safety to which CASR 61.355 is the solution? I have NFI.

Come and get me CASA!
I have loads of corrections, umm... I mean, ALTERATIONS in my many logbooks.
Always simply crossed out with one line through it, and you can still see the original entry (error) with the correct figure written next to it.
The result of being human and tired and writing down the wrong number or in the wrong column or whatever.
Lock me up! I am clearly a major risk to flight safety.
At least I didn't say BOMB, or "Urka Durka, Death to America!"
Oh damn, I just did.

It seems that you can make corrections while the logbook is still being used.
However, after you've made the final entry in a log book, any alteration = criminal offence. It's also a criminal offence if you throw it in the bin, e.g. 6 years later.
If anyone can explain the safety risk to which these rules are the mitigation, I'd appreciate it.
On a related issue, the poll is a scam. The ostensibly random votes that appear every few hours or so are not random. In any event, the poll is pointless. Can the mods get rid of it?

There are some 20 million persons in Australia. Polls that determine who is PM are usually done with no more than 1% of that population. The Poll above has 331 votes from a population of active pilots of some 20,000. Why is it pointless? It's more than proportional, or are you saying the new PM is illegitimate?
It's not the sample size. It's that all of the real votes were cast weeks ago. There is no way that there are random ppruners suddenly finding this thread and deciding to vote for the first time, once every few hours.

Folks,
Re. the poll, I really wonder how the "Yes-Confident" has garnered 62 votes.
Certainly the people with whom I converse are not a scientific sample, but none, zero, zilch have any confidence that there will be any meaningful beneficial change.
Change maybe, but beneficial??
Tootle pip!!

Proof that Skidmore is a new broom
Let's get back to the title of the thread, forget the poll, where's the PROOF.
Has any meaningful change taken place on his watch, at his instigation?
Has the recommendations of the ASSR been taken seriously?
Has the regulatory review program been acknowledged as a basket case?
Apart from releasing "philosophies", what has changed since Skidmore was gifted a $500,000 pa sinecure?
The military mind and culture are at odds with CIVIL aviation.
The only cultural change I am aware of is the removal of a uniquely charactered FOI in the Darwin office (GI).
Was this at the direction of Skidmore, or did the Team Leader finally acknowledge he had a problem and fixed it himself?
Anyone aware of any factual changes initiated by Skidmore, or is he just sailing "steady as she goes"?

1. No.
2. No.
3. No.
4. Nothing.
5. Correct.
6. In the big sewer of life every torrid turd finds it's own level.
7. Just sailing on, and on, and with nobody onboard the good ship CAsA and under the command of a pampered, over confident well paid skipper with a monumental superiority complex, an astonishing level of self entitlement, and very little understanding of the way the aviation industry and its environment really works... and heading for the rocks with his minister and bread plants.
It's hard to get a bite about the way our PM is "elected" innit? The poll is relevant.

I won't dispute some of the other things you said, but I'm not sure these ones can be supported...

Yes, when I think about it a bit more, it's all the Board and Ministers doing. Someone should ask the Board and The Minister when the regulatory review process will be processed given that the DAS thinks the time frame to date is acceptable.

Please note that CASA is in the process of developing a new self service portal. You now have the ability to submit a number of FCL applications/notifications through CASA Self Service and monitor their progress. The service delivery timeframes for FCL applications are listed on the CASA website. Please note that these timeframes apply from the date of receipt, not the date of mailing the application. It would be appreciated if you could wait until after the service delivery timeframe has passed before sending an email to query progress with your application.
We are currently experiencing some delays in progressing applications. As of Monday 5 October 2015, we are currently processing applications received on the following dates:

Our fish and chip shop had a fire and was out of action for nearly two weeks. CAsA must have had a 767 drive through the joint to have that much of a delay.
They need more funds for more staff obviously.

Hey, has anyone checked the votes lately? Now the balance is swinging back the other way from when the Lead brothers were questioning the veracity of the system, what's going on!!?? The public should be told!
As I've said, I think the poll's a scam.
I don't believe that a different, real pruner has been randomly stumbling across this thread and deciding to cast a vote once every couple of hours in the last couple of weeks.
Who's voting? Who knows.
More importantly, who cares. It makes not one bit of difference.
