Devons/Doves had reversing originally but I believe due to a few assymetric deplyment issues it was disabled on all aircraft.

Yes they can, but Fokker 50's only have one 'Piss Tin'.

We had a small RAA type on floats with a reversing prop. It took a bit of getting used to but was very handy. Reversing away from the bowser was the most entertaining part, people thought you were stupid when you buckled in whilst facing the wrong way. You have to watch for bumps as or course it will tip back much easier going backwards than it ever could going forwards. This one took 4 seconds from forward to reverse but over 10 seconds to go from reverse to forward (electric); that 10 seconds seemed to take for ever when you wanted to move quickly.

I've marshalled at a few airshows in my time but I never thought I'd need that particular hand signal!

Folks,
In time gone buy, QF has used reverse thrust on B707 and B747, both P&W and RR powered version of the latter.
How do you do it?? Very carefully.
Tootle pip!!

Used to see Talair Twin Otters reverse parked at the Port Moresby base quite often. Only with a ground marshaller present though.

I don't think Twotters had any "piss tins", did they?

Of course not Clarrie. However, not wishing to slander, defame or otherwise besmirch the reputations of any former Talair pilots I will refrain from commenting on their ability for consumption of tins of piss!

Douglas Pilots were another matter.

Change the thread title then. Types of aircraft could include: pistons, turbines, turboprops...

I recall when I checked out as captain on the DC-6, the Chief pilot told me sternly "Remember, reverse taxiing is *not* authorized ... then proceeded to tell me how to do it and what to watch out be careful of.
