Thanks Bentleg,
I scoured that site with no luck. There should be a "contact us" tab.

I have just been at a show for the previous week and saw Gripen, Rafale, Tornado, Su30, Tejas, the Red Bulls, the Suyra Kirans and heaps of other stuff that won't be there at Avalon. The weather was great (mild) and the food as well. I was disappointed that he Mig 35 wasn't here or the Be 200 that was doing water bombing demo's last time i was here, but at least the Roosians had their usual gorgeous dollies on the indoor trade stands, a poor substitute but always easy on the eyes.

Oh Well, Avalon will still be fun anyway and I will be making the most of this showcase of aviation and will be there every day with my camera and sunscreen. I must get a Morris Oxford staff car and Royal Enfield dispatch rider escort so that i can wear my Air Marshall epaulets. It is so good to be British don't you know.

I suspect the RNZAF B757 will be a no-show as well- they almost certainly have far better things to do at the moment. For this year I'll be quite happy to keep in my memory their super display from past Avalon's. Come back when you can guys, but godspeed with what you and the rest of the NZ defence forces will be doing in the coming weeks

Heard a nasty rumour today that the Raptor will only be a static display and no one with in 50m of it and the B-2 has been canned but sending and extra B1 as a replacement.....really hope im wrong as they were the only 2 reasons i booked airfares to go!

Just received this.

13th Air Force Public Affairs

2/24/2011 - JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- At the invitation of the Government of Australia, the United States military will be represented at the Australian International Airshow 2011 held at Avalon Airport, Victoria, Australia, from March 1 through 6.

A cross-section of U.S. military aircraft and equipment are scheduled to be on static display and performing aerial demonstrations including the F-22 Raptor, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the B-1B Lancer, the KC-135 Stratotanker, the C-17 Globemaster III, the C-130J Hercules and the MH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter.

Through participating in air shows and other regional events, the United States demonstrates its commitment to the security of the Asia-Pacific region, promotes the standardization and interoperability of equipment, and displays capabilities critical to the success of current and future military operations.

The PR at the bottom and the PR blurbs are always interesting tells me they will fly it unless somone here says no. Its here to show off IMHO. There is no crew from this Sqn qualified to do a handling display according to ACC that is scheduled to come down here, but Id expect it to do laps, unless the one qualified crew from this Sqn shows up.

The USS Shoup that has the helos on it is due into Station Pier at 7.30am on Monday for any Shipaholics.

Hi All,

I want to take my Grand father (he's 91!) to the airshow on sunday using the gold pass as I dont think he can handle standing around for too long. My worry is that the walk to the airstrip will be too far. How many km is it, and is it possible to drive up an drop him at the entrance and then I go find a car park?

I remember going down there one year when Qantas took down a 747 (ex Mascot)
This flight with a full load was reckoned to be the first 744 departure from 16L! Don't count on QF participation anymore - there's not an ounce of entrepanaurial spirit left.

Udor, you should be able to drive up to the entrance if you let them know nicely and if you promise to watch out for the pedestrians.

Once you get there, if he can't handle a 500 metre walk, if you ask them nicely they will probably get you someone in a golf buggy thing to come and pick him up. Tell them he's a War vetran and you should have no worries.

Udor,

There will be people able to help, with golf buggies/wheel chairs and other things to let him enjoy himself. Probably the best thing to do is give them a ring and ask before getting there as it will be busy making it hard to wing it.

The KC-135 arrived first and requested to be in a position to film the Raptors arrival. The Raptor called up the tower and the ATC requested them in an almost begging voice for them to perform a low level left pitch over the top of the pavilions and fire station. I was positioned close to the runway and both raptor come down to around 200ft then lit the burners over the top while pulling into a left fast climbing turn. You could feel the heat. AWESOME. From what I could read, one is AK 108 the other the other reads AK 525 FS. I will post some photos soon.
