So with the opening up of some E190 positions does anyone know if these will be filled internally by B777 SO’s or maybe some VAI (NZ) FO’s wanting to return home? Or are they unlikely to be bid for and hence opened up to external recruitment? Does anyone know the rough number of positions? If filled internally then I assume more B777 SO position will open in the near future.

Those positions will definitely be filled internally, most likely by 777 SO's. There will never be recruitment directly into VAA ever again, the path is clear now VAI 777 or VANZ.

Not according to several people in VA who all say that there are a fair few positions on the EJet coming up later this year due to internal movement.

Unless VA has a black and white policy preventing domestic recruitment, never say never...

I would have thought the process would be VARA to NZ to the backseat to the right seat to the left seat of the props and up again.

A bit like Ansett

Chief Pilot of VARA has no interest in allowing VARA staff to transfer.

Hence the last minute hiring onto the 777 and NZ 737.

Interesting Going Nowhere...explains a lot.

VARA CP hindering peoples career goals, prospects and career progression within the VA group, therefore these guys look elsewhere for the next opportunity.

Thank you Mr CP, keep the quality candidates coming this way!

Looks like VARA is getting the same treatment Qlink has had for years! On the bright side though at least they have a chance with Qantas mainline and Jetstar (when they recruit again)

Going Nowhere, current batch of VAA transfers spent 5 years in the back seat. Lots more waiting for their turn. Long list of guys at VANZ waiting to come back, many with 3 years+ in the company. I doubt any externals will be jumping the queue any time soon but whatever makes you sleep at night....

I dont have a dog in this fight so whatever happens doesn't affect me.

Only relaying what I hear from the guys and gals on the line.

I get worried when peopld start using the word "never" in aviation, that's all.

Is Virgin and its subsidiary's still requiring applicants to have the full ATPL before accepting applications?

How many "re-apply" are they planning to do? Has anyone who has done the interview in the last 2 months been offered the 777 gig?

I believe a course started about 3 weeks ago with another on the cards, so I'd say a few have gotten the nod

So now that the new recruiting system is in place does this mean that this EOI would be all about rebuilding the hold file?

Does anyone know if VAI will consider older candidates for SO/FO? I'm 50 and I have been working overseas a long time and l am looking to come back home for good............Don't mind going back to be an FO.

It is most certainly promising, and exciting, seeing all these recent job ads by Virgin Australia in both mainstream and regional. I hope this is a early sign of promising pilot recuitment all over Australia's aviation industry.

I noticed some have said their 777 SO and NZ FO job 'expression of interest' from Jan/Feb 2015 has been successful.

Does any one know if the Fokker 50 and 100 'expression of interest' in Feb 2015 been acted upon yet? I realise some have said in this thread that they got interviews for Fokker 50, but were these related to the recent 'experession of interest' advertimsnet or a previous hiring campaign?

Virgin does not discriminate on the basis of age.

Nice to know, and politically correct company policy I'm sure, but realistically, what's the oldest that Virgin has hired in recent time?
