You can't get hung up on this super thing. Different countries, different laws. You could consider the difference that the lower taxes in nz could make to offset the super difference, however I concede then there is the pay difference. This talk of super is assuming it is Aus guys coming to NZ is it not? They could always look for jobs in Aus if they don't like the super scheme in nz. However it is a good step into Virgin if they are thinking long term. Though from what I've heard now with the seniority list, don't expect to get back to Aus anytime soon if you start in nz.

Yes Cheese, there was an anxious looking group being churned through interviews & flights tests on Monday at the BNE sim centre. Didn't get a chance to talk to anyone on the panel, so can't say what fleet/bases they were recruiting for.

Given the number of commands announced this week, there should be further recruitment later this year.

There were only around 10 'new' commands announced. The rest were base transfers.

I don't think this will result in too much recruitment.

I would love to be wrong though.

They have done a sim check along with the interview the past 3 years.

Over 3 years ago I got the money together to fly to Bris and spend a couple of hours in the Sim prior to the invited interview day and found it very worth while and beneficial for the sim check part of the process. Back then it was an Interview with 3 on the panel, group session and a sim. A month later Nick Siddle said I had been successful and they were putting me on the hold file…..a few weeks ago I got the same email as everyone else in the system telling me to update and reapply I'm not going to hold any grudges….aviation can be a cruel industry. Think about how much it costs to get your finished airline licence, the sacrifices you/parents/family/girlfriends/wives/partners make along the way to help you achieve this goal…for some the GA ride is probably some of the toughest flying you'll do but its also some of the best and the memories last a life time. I didn't reapply for VA. 3 years is a long time and a lot has happened since my 'congratulations' email. Everyone in the industry has their own story to tell of how they finally got to a place they want to be till they retire. VA isn't mine but I wish all those who are getting the chance to be an SO or FO the very best
