Pelair Vs Careflight I say. RFDS CS seem not to have the track record for contract stuff. I have also heard they have pushed quite hard for the PC-12 to be the aircraft of choice which is not the prefered machine for the NT contract. I just think you have to give them what they want.
Could be wrong though hey!

So to put it another way (as Sunfish says in every post/lecture) has Pearl let go of the ex NTAM drivers, or are they still being paid 90k per year to do a rumoured flight a month? Is careflight still chartering hardy to do the runs in a C441 on a daily basis?
I hope Pearl get it back, private NT company, locally owned and operated and a local NT contract.
What happened with Careflight and the emergency landing the other night? Hit a Wallaby did they
I suppose anything can happen in a country that loves to sell itself out. Look at what the QLD government did by awarding the subsidized routes to REX, when a local QLD company (read Westwing) should have got them.

The whole thing wreaks of bull**** from the start (not recently, I mean years back)
NT Aeromed is in trouble, send it back to pearl and hold to account the bureaucrats behind this phuck up.

Nice thought but you do realise that the RFDS section that is bidding has not yet have a proven ability to operate under contract conditions? I would love to see them win it but I think the RFDS (nationally) would have been better served if SE Section had been the bidder.
Not too long to wait now, end of June isn't it?

sorry guys, but while Kon Vatskalis is part of the cabinet Pearl will never get back into the drivers seat for the NTAMS service. It's well known that Kon and Paspaley do not get along. Why do you think the contract was suddenly suspended and given in intrim to careflight without much warning? To provide a better service to the NT? I swear those kingairs spend more time in direct airs hangar getting work done, or over at TAE than they do flying

Seems to be a common theme on here (me sometimes included).
Pearl came to an agreement to end their contract. It was a mutual decision after Pearl said they could not service the contract with the equipment they had.
When Pearl signed the previous contract, they offered the NT government several options with new Kingairs being the preferred option. They also included refurbishing the old ones in the tender. The bean counters saw the cost differential and the rest is history.
The NT government had approved the purchase of new Kingairs as far back as 2009 (apparently) but as it was a substantial cost, it has to be put up to tender as per government requirements.
Fast forward 2 years and we are were we are.
Careflight can't provide the coverage they are contracted to provide.
At least we are seeing conquests doing aeromed again courtesy of Hardy
AceBaby incorrect, they can still have periods of offline when they are supposed to be online. Thus providing delays to evac people.
Maybe have a bit of knowledge in the area you're talking about before chirping in.

The aircraft, pilots and support services are Australasian Jet, not Careflight. If NT Govt is silly enough to go with a service provider who is not a proven performer and does not / cannot provide a complete turn-key aeromedical solution (as RFDS does), then more fool them (and pity the punters who end up relying on said service). There is no such thing as a safe, effective and CHEAP aeromedical system.

Thats exactly right Al. You got it in one. As with all things in life, you tend to get what you pay for.
For any aeromedical service, pick any 2 of the following:
1. Cheap
2. High level of care (ie quality)
3. High levels of service provision and reliability (ie availability)
You should usually be able to get 2 of these, but 3 is impossible.
Of course in NSW, the previous government could not even get 2 of these. But what else were we ever going to expect from that lot! Talk about a "weapon of mass destruction".

You can always tell when it is a quiet night in Derby by how many posts are going on this thread.
I hear they are getting two more aircraft. One turbine islander from Malaysia that is to arrive in the early part of next year, and another, a nomad that is being refurbished as we speak. This referb being made easier because the nomad has been hangared for the last 30 years, in a museum .
