Euroflight New Zealand

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to New Zealand early next year and considering cracking my PPL while I'm there.

Does anyone have any experience with Euroflight at Tauranga Airport?(Euro Flight International - Flight Training in New Zealand). They advertise in Pilot magazine here in the UK and I would like to know if anyone would recommend them.

I am ad ketelaars and have vited this month euroflight,don't spent your time and your money there.The promist me in one month the do the PPL.When I wash there after a long trip all over the world no books no nothing.I sent me money already dont do that he is very money hongry,furhter the school is oke but the system from exames is again you,you have to wait seven workdays before you get answer and you not can book before a other exame so your time running out.I stop after three weeks the exames are match more dufficult than the USA,better go there.I fly only 12 hours when I stop and have 38 hours to go and he give me only 870 dollars back.No it wash a bad dream.
Look very good the books are very expensive and your healt check is already 400 dollars,he not tell that you need a police check he write it very small the problems starting there.Think very well,good luck

At the risk of stating the obvious, exams generally aren't designed with ease of passing as the primary concern...

There are better and probably cheaper places.

Take a look here Welcome to Flying New Zealand this is the umbrella organisation for flying clubs who are members of the Royal New Zealand Aero Club (RNZAC) which operates as Flying New Zealand.

The aero club network is spread right thru the country giving a wide choice of good organisations to do your training.

It looks like you might be intertested in training in the upper North Island and I would recommend the following places. They are not listed in any order of preference.
New Plymouth aero club,
Waikato aero club The Waikato Aero Club,
Tauranga aero club,
Auckland aero club Auckland Aero Club,
Whenuapai Aviation Sports club Whenuapai Aviation Sports Club,
North Shore aero club North Shore Aero Club.

They're based at dairy flat, about 25 mins north of central auckland. The fees are very competitive and they own the airfield. The fleet of robins is good, as are the instructors.
I think North Shore Aero club offers a lot more than other options around NZ, the attitude of all there is great with a focus on flight training, safety and having fun.

Need to learn to read and speak english

Ad Ketelaars after 3 weeks of intensive classroom study, you still never managed to pass one exam. You had a full time instructor and money was no issue you said. You also had accommodation and exam fees as well as flying. To all organizations be aware, this person has real problems with English and also may not meet the Fit and Proper person standard to hold a license.

You need to learn to read, speak and understand english to hold a Pilots licence.

Euroflight has one of the most experienced instructors in NZ and has a very high standard of flight instruction.

We recomend Euroflight NZ.

so, the exams were too hard, so you left to do it in the USA because it is easier?

i'm pretty sure you'll need a little more than a police check in the USA, not to mention a visa to even get in there. you'll definitely need a medical.

the 7 'work days' is nothing to do with euroflight - that's ASL's problem, although for an extra $30 to ASL (not euroflight) they'll priority mark it in 48 hours.

One might wonder since it was a first post.

Updownunders experience with the school may well be exactly as posted.

I have no personal experience with Euro Flight, but I know several people who have strong opinions about the owner. He is not held in high regard, hence the reason for my original post.

If you go to Euro Flight your experience may well be the same as unpdownunders, but I would recommend that you check out other places as well before spending your money.

just had a dealing with Euroflight . very friendly , helpull. remember also if you are doing training in NZ that Tauranga has great weather by NZ standards ( most sunny days) . if you are pushed on a tight schedule , this could be a factor.

There are lots of training outfits based at Tauranga, so you've got lots of choice there.

My post as well as passing on what I have heard from people I respect also made the point that EGHOboi may well have the same experience as you did.

truly said.good post 27/09.its a fact avoid euroflight.

i would higly recommend bayflight international aka phil hookers school(coruba comes to my mind now i wonder y).

with Graham Guy(still works for nzcaa i think) as cfi of the school its better now especially since the crash last year i think.
plus tauranga good place to train busy airspace all in all a well run school.
not a sausage factory though intakes r limited so more personalised approach.good social scene too (bbqs every friday lunch).

stay away from the sausage factories in new Zealand and u will be just fine,

nelson and tauranga has got th best weather to fly in new Zealand.not to forget the best beaches and hot south american gals at the mount mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

A friend of mine does it through the Aero Club (and interestingly, he was at Air Discovery in Rotorua before that), and he says it's all good.

Hi, I have had no dealings with Euroflight. But I would recommed Eagle Flight Training, they are based at Ardmore Airport, in Auckland. They will tell you everything you need to know.

Tim holland, the owner of euroflight is flight ops manager at bayflight international? are they the same company? Nobody seems too complimentary about euroflight on here!??

Tim WAS flt ops mangr @ BayFlight. He started EuroFlight after.

Facts:

are you sure! I thought he went straight from the TG aeroclub to start his Euroflight over at the private hangers then bought the aeroclubs hangar to run the training side of the 'new look' aeroclub. They then had a 'dispute' and so they parted company. I think he is the nominated CFI for the classic museum as well much to Hookers displeasure I can imagine.

I could be wrong of course, you know what its like hearing something way down the food chain.

The Truth About TH and Euroflight

Some facts about TH and Euroflight:

All of the flight training systems at Euroflight have been poached from TH's time at Bayflight, yet he continuously claims how good "his" systems are.

TH has managed to fall out with nearly everyone on Tauranga airfield, including Tauranga Aero Club, Air Discovery, Sunair, Phil Hooker & Graham Guy (Bayflight), the helicopter and microlight operators, and all the engineering companies. He has to have his fleet ferried to Hamilton for maintenance now About the only person TH hasn't had some form of bust up with on Tauranga airport is himself.

Very disgruntled ex-staff, he'd never win "employer of the year," he is very ill-tempered, throws his toys out of the cot (even with students in the air). He is known for saying one thing, writing another, and doing yet another.

He has a small band of misguided followers that hang on his every word - no doubt influenced by his newly-acquired A cat status.

I flew with him only the once, he was a useless instructor, never again.

When I used to work in Tauranga the place was a happy close knit community where people trusted one another. Now, thanks to TH, everyone is constantly looking over their shoulder waiting for a knife from the small man - even though chances are they have done nothing wrong.

What a **** Do not trust him.
