Qantas Bases ?

Hi, silly question from across the ditch, but what cities are available as permanent bases in Australia?

Specifically is Perth available (and/or desireable so what would be chances of getting a base there as new s/o?)

I have been searching but can't find out and as I am on Dial-up it takes forever to search sites so please don't flame me for asking.

Thanks

All SO's are based in SYD, as I understand it, but commuting is not a problem for most of 'em.

I had a mate who was living in PH as a 744 SO and later as a 767 FO, and seemed to manage it OK.

Standby is a bit of a bugger though - you gotta sign-on within 2 hours so that means sitting in SYD a lot

Yup, sydney only for s/o's, but with the longhaul flying commuting is a piece of cake, as long as you're not right on the bottom. Perth is now available for f/o's and capt on the 737, and slots are going quite junior too at the moment...

Thanks for the replies people, much appreciated.

EP, best laugh I have had all day. I was thinking about it till my hot water cylinder blew up 2 weeks ago ($1500) and 2 nights ago my wife backed the ute into our other car (sigh...) so there goes BBand for another year...

Cheers

SOLUTION.....Get rid of the missus, give the damaged car to her and get yourself a BBand conx. You'll get used of the cold showers. Besides, she won't be around to tell you that you stink!
