hey..congrats
i suppose you already got your cpl then..?

anyway there is a thread like this but for rex
seeing that they are both for cadet programs..
question should be roughly similar..this is the
same i wrote for the other thread

You should just have a somewhat clear idea of what your going to say when you answer the usual questions such as:

Tell me in a nutshell, why you’re sitting here today
Do you have a plan B?
What do you think Qantas's main/most important market is?

Tell us about a situation when:
1/You’ve overlooked something You’ve challenged a given/held assumption
2/When have you gone beyond what was required of you
3/When has someone disagreed with you or your suggestions
4/When you’ve had to stand your ground
5/When have you had to work or think methodically
6/Has there been a time you’ve had to deviate from this?

Then there are those questions you don't prepare for any I can't think
of any on the top of my head but questions like do you have any questions for us? think of all the questions they would ask you
and just come up with answers on a piece of paper..

then there is presentation and things like..tidy hair, what you wear,
smell etc..remember..you only get one chance to make a first impression
so make sure it's a good one..you think they might not care about these
small details..but i can assure you they do!

Overall, just act positively. Don't just sit there and answer questions like a robot..try and make the interview as a conversation; not too formal..but not too informal either..try and also be concise with your answers..most people have a tendency to bring in a background to their answer..in answer to some of those questions, its effective, in others, it just makes your answer boring..

btw..remember to be courteous..in the lead up to the interview..you should see if you can get your hands on some of their annual reports..or anything thats happened lately at qantas..it may help..

i havent checked on qantas links website but wasn't there a preference
for people under 27's ? not really sure abt that but if thats the case
just show alot of enthusiasm

good luck

The best bit of help I can give you is "Don't do it" With the way the current pilot recruitment is going with other airlines you'd be wasting time and money by going to QantasLink. Try Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar first.
I can say this as I currently work at QFLink but hopefully not for much longer.
Management believe that paying thousands of dollars for traineeships and relocation costs of SAS pilots is a better option than using this money to entice existing crew to stay.
Wishlist: progession to mainline
retention bonuses incorporated into EBA

Its my understanding that QLink itself doesn't have its own cadetship that is separate from mainline. Its a big assumption that the whole interview / selection process for a cadetship will be identical to that of a direct entry FO or traineeship position in any case.

Cadet /= Trainee /= Direct Entry

and the topic is......

Gday,

I have been accepted into QF.link and found the interview harder in my head than it actually was.

It is alot of behavioral type questions....stuff you would be foolish to try and lie too......dont be tempted, too easy to catch you out.

Just be honest, direct and convey what you learned from the experience you described.....

Aprat from that know the aircraft you have been flying recently as you will get some questions about it. Also know your IFR rules and plate info.

The interview is harder with the more experience you have. My interview was about 1hr 10min, where as the fellow before me had the full 1hr 30min but he had 7500Hrs and Saab experience.

One fellow have the same experience as me but more mcc ,turbine f/o time and a B737 rating didnt get through so be prepared, dont take this crappy they owe me a favor attitude for helping them out as you will be canned.

Its a great job, don't listen to cranky pants people too much especially if your starting out, like i said before, its RPT, multi-crew turbine time which is invaluable for your future career....or hey you may even stay there for life..... up to you...... this thing about always climbing the ladder makes alot of people quite negative.

And yes they do offer a deal where people who dont meet the criteria can apply and they will train you, but as for a full sponsered cadetship....time will tell.

Stay positive, go for the most logical step-up from where you are now and good luck.

You drained all the info you could from PPruner's.
Had your interview.
Told us all that it was great.

Now after a couple of weeks you have contributed nothing for those who will equally soak up any info.

How about contributing something worthwhile rather than just being a user!
