I still can't get over it... Here I am sitting in the middle of no-where, just been given two type endorsements - with the third (turbine) commencing in two weeks, paid airfares to locate to the middle of no where, paid accomodation, and still earning above the award wage. Yet the Airlines??????? What a turn around - I'm truley baffled

Yigy2,
Chocks mentioned "4 weeks paid leave only" and you say that's incorrect?
It IS 4 weeks Annual/Paid Leave only, with Conair. The Public holidays you mention are ancillary, hardly worth a mention and can't be counted with Annual Leave entitlements... "incorrect" ? ...fair go.
DTA: Alot of days aren't rostered as 24 hours, so it's abit keen multiplying by $96. Capts flying flat out currently do get that and more, while F/Os not even $500NZD, so I can see where Chocks is coming from.
The Jetcon transfers, granted a couple more than Chocks mentioned and what it says about the place they've left but I keep hearing questions and complaints about why these guys with B737 classic time only, jumped straight into management & training positions with no NG time or company route knowledge, while others inhouse could have fit the bill?
Anyway, enough said, not my problem anyway.
...better things to do.

just abit of useless info, as mentioned above re: JC chief pilot move to pac blue i.e rishworth/conair etc - jetconnect were advertising in this morning nz herald and probably elsewhere for a operations manager and Chief pilot.
even more useless info the ad was placed virtually next to a Emirates AD fo F/Os

On Guard
At the moment, most new F/Os are getting the base of their choice, different story for Captains though. There are a couple that commute from CHC and to AKL, not sure how that would work though.

Thanks, great info. What is the answer to Windshear? I would get a surface wind at both ends prior to takeoff and just be monitoring by airspeed and holding a bit more speed up my sleeve after rotate? On approach I would also be looking for any rapid increase in airspeed and go around at stick shaker if this rapid rise was encountered.
This is from ATPL studies, does it sound ok?
Sim now in FBT's at shopping malls, Mike Pero's flight experience.
Cheers
