Yep, the Darwin Flying School's aircraft, for those who would remember it - it's been in Darwin forever.

No one hurt - gusty day with crosswind on the short runway - do your own math...

True, but you could experiment with LAHSO runway 18:

"Clear to land runway 18, hold short runway 11..."

That would make it somewhat more sporting.

How does a short runway (1524 meters) contribute to flipping on your roof?

I've seen Nomads and DC3s landing on 18 turn off onto the old 'disused'. It cost me a beer the first time I saw it done

Wasn't UNR was it? I assume DFS hasn't changed its 172's since XXZ. I've had UNR off 18 easy on the taxiway left before the intersection (Y2 isn't it? Has been a while) plenty of times... but then it IS just a 172.

Who's running the joint up there these days now that Dale is gone? Phil still CP/CFI?

P.S. NFR, what you up to these days? Last time I ran into you, you and Dave D were still up the tower at DN... can't remember when that was though. '02?

Thumbs up Short Runway?

Try clear to land runway 11 in a Chieftain, turn off (to the south) taxiway Charlie.

Been a while but I didn't think it was that sporting....pretty sure I used to do it in a Baron. Maybe my memory doesn't serve me correctly.
