Does anyone have any details regarding the current Rex rosters from capital city bases. i.e overnights per week, hours flown and the like.

Thanks BB

Do yourselves a favour and look elsewere.

I've been there and got out asap.....

Crap money, long days and little time off.

Not the job it used to be thanks to a little piece of crap that lives o/s and threatens to sack everyone!!!

The Kavorka,
I note from alot of your posts you have an intense hate towards Rex. I've just got a couple of simple, very straight forward questions I've been wondering.
1. Would you have got into Jetstar without the experience Rex gave you?
2. Seen as you got out "ASAP" I'm wondering if you paid your bond back to Rex?

Mudflat

Yes

No...

I don't hate the company, many terrific guys/gals there. I have an immense dislike for the owners who do nothing to try to improve t&c's.

The wages there are a disgrace and need to be looked at now.

The company is raking in profits and sitting on there hands...

The kavorka,

Just out of curiosity, were you being paid while you did your training with Rex?, were you being paid while you were doing your training with Jetstar? A bond (which you didn't even pay after you left), versus $30k plus for the prevelige with Jet*
I'm just trying to say while there is alot to be improved with Rex T&C it isn't all bad, especially if it is being used by the above guys as a stepping stone on to bigger and better things.
And as for people who don't stick to their end of the bargin (eg not paying out a bond that you no doubt signed)...lets just say that answers all the other questions I had about you.

I'm looking foward to reading all you posts about Jet* in a couple of years...maybe you can keep all the posts you've done on Rex and just cut and copy the name Jet* into them.

Guys I dont know what all the fuss is with the T&c' at Rex. I'm an FO there and I have to say that they are all pretty good. Sure there are a couple of dills but you are going to get that everywhere. I'd say that J* has there fair share of them to. The biggest hurdle faceing the T&C's that gets every one off side is the fact that CASA require the documents to be recited word perfect. You cant even say please and thank you, how bloody stupid but hey we are employed to do a job. I think that The Kavorka is probably a little bitter and twisted with the whole thing due to a number of reasons. Problems with checkies usually stems from not knowing your stuff and struggling with the cyclic side of things. Mudflat is pretty on the mark, what other company will bond you and pay for your training. The Kavorka let me see at the green green pastures of J* you are not bonded but you can salary sacrifice ohh but for the priviledge you get slapped with a fee that equates to about 6%, you have to pay for your asic not at REX, you have to pay for your FCOM and documental sh!t not at REX, you have to pay for your command upgrade ($10000) not at REX mind you who would be stupid enough to sign an EBA with that milarky in it, shall I keep on going. Sure we dont fly jets at REX but hey we are on a pretty good wicket with our EBA in regards to industry wide pay rises ie our profit share and share sceme. Please no not vent your anger to the company as a hole as I'm sure that you are only dark on certain individuals.

Stooge,

I never falied a check at rex.

All i'm saying is that if they continue to pay what they do, people will leave in droves. AS they are....Are you?

Let me tell you JQ sh#ts all over REX, my pay is more than double and I work as half as much. And fly a much, much, much better A/C

Also get your facts right, you do not have to pay for a command upgrade.

Sure there are still areas of the JQ eba that need looking at but i'm sure if you have read other posts, JQ mangement have opened up the EBA to improve t&c's to attract more pilots, unlike the rabble you work for (trying everything but improving the EBA to retain pilots)..

Mudflat, I suggest you press hard for VB/JQ/QF/TGR/CX and you'll will find out how crap REX really is....

Mudflat, I never said I was not paying my bond.......You have 12 months after leaving and I have every intention of paying it!!!

I interviewed there 2+ weeks ago. ACed the sim and felt very confident in the interview and tech quiz. How long does it take to hear from these people. Will they only notify you if you are successful?

oh yeah, Sim was ndb to Essenden and vector for ILS to melbourne with a SID out of melbourne to begin with. about 30 min each

tech quiz- Abbreviations RAIM etc, Weight and balance. Bring a calculator even though they say your not allowed to use one. Bring it! Critical POint calculation. 3-4 pages in length 20 questions or so. you'll need 45 mins to complete it.

interview- 2 interviewers. Why rex, what can you bring to rex, what do you know about rex. whats your past history. other fella asked question on Jep approch charts. Know them. even the smallest detail. I got stumped a few times. Lasts about one hr.
no questions on previous a/c with me.

Hope this helps... I have a feeling i didn't get the job. Ahh well, they couldn't need pilots that badly.

If you didn't get the job, it'll be because they "stumped" you a couple of times. For better or worse, CH is a stickler for you guys knowing your IFR ****.

Have you ever heard of biting the hand that has fed you? Or burning bridges? I once worked for the old Rex and what a top job for what it is. People have long memories and to go on and on about Rex noe that you have left is just bad form. Where would you be now if you didn't go to Rex?

Yes indeed, the Kavorka is quite amusing.

I have a picture in my mind of him sitting there in his big, grey and advanced shiny airbus, grinding his teeth every time he hears a Rex call sign, his eyes fixating to an infinite stare as his flashbacks take him back to the battle of Regional Express.

What a terrible, terrible time it must have been for you!

We can only hope that the government sees fit to extend veterans benefits to those who have been through such traumatic regional airline experiences?

One day, young Australian aviators will traverse the Kavorka trail in honour of those like the Kavorka, who selfishly sacrificed themselves and their mortgage to move on to vastly better conditions than those offered by the evil regional enemy.

Or perhaps we are quietly glad that an egotistical, self centred, useless, whinging, gutter trash f*ckwit has moved onto his perceived airline nirvana, wondering how soon it is before his far away stare relates more to the present than the past?

Now, how many emoticons of a head banging dude can one fit in a post and does that relate directly to the deprived mental state of that person?

Wink Kavorka's REX obsession!!

The fact that Kavorka claims he works for Jet* is rather amusing the irony is priceless.

Not mention that he is content to pay for the priviledge of carrying nearly 5 times as many passengers for double the pay he was earning at REX

Mate Jet* saw you coming

shpsft/ King air...

I have many friends at rex still and guess what...they all agree with me............................

maybe you two are stuck there because your not good enough to fly jets....

all I would like to see is that the guys who want to make this their career can...the money the offer now is a joke for the profits they are making,..

please tell me how you can disagree with this ......!!!

like i've said before you can make more money driving a truck and it only takes a week to get a hvy/rdg licence......

Guys,

As in most things there is a balance.

I've been with REX since day 1, and prior to that one of the previous Ansett regionals that begat REX.

I truely love my job, and feel fortunate to be doing what I do. However, don't be misled into thinking that in todays environment it is acceptable for REX to pay their pilots what they do.

Kavorka,

you really stir the pot mate. I see many of your points, but I am convinced that Rex will only move to improve T&C's after it is too late. And then they still may not listen!

Sorry, threadrift!

Halfmoon, not sure what happened there. I'm not involved in the interview process. Maybe the wheels are moving a bit slowly. Good luck, because we really do need all the pilots we can get.

If my guess is right though, there would be a major domestic airline beckoning before long.
