A is Townsville. Not too recent. Looking down on Castle Hill. Story goes that during WWII, the Yanks declared Castle Hill to be a hazard to aviation and wanted to knock it down and use the rubble to build a causeway to Magie Is.

B ? Don't know. Looks like my part of the world. Tully?

FTDK - A is only a couple of years ago!! B the runway at the bottom left of the picture should confirm or deny your suspicions.

Kariba Dam - concrete arch dam across the Zambezi River at Kariba Gorge, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Completed in 1959, the structure is 420 feet (128 m) high with a crest 1,899 feet (579 m) in length and a volume of 1,350,000 cubic yards (1,032,000 cubic m). The dam creates Lake Kariba.

A long way from anywhere

What it looks like when you fly outside the GPS terrain database area!
There is some good spherical trigonometry practice here for those who are interested: What is the aircraft's lat/lon as the picture is taken? (The bearing is in deg TRUE).

Jbr76...........I recognise that man 3rd from the right (wearing glasses), but perhaps you don't.

It is "Molly", last heard of in NZ. And the handsome dark-haired chap in the centre of the photo (minus epaulettes) is well known in this forum, as are some of the other "suspects".
