From the latest NZ ALPA Magazine...
Mt Cook pilots remain engaged in industrial action
involving not working on days off, not returning
to work from annual leave, not accepting any
changes to the published roster, and not working
with non-union members who work more than
certain minimum number of days off. As mentioned
in previous magazines, Mt Cook pilots are seeking
little more than the Air NZ group's standard
conditions for pilots; however this appears to be
denied them by an Air NZ group policy demanding
that employment conditions be different across the
group! The Employment Relations Authority have
assisted in a ‘facilitated bargaining’ process which
soon resulted in a recommended, but not imposed
settlement.
Any other news lately??, some new hires have start dates for later this month, does this mean people are leaving already or are the company ramping up recruiting with a possible end in sight?

Public watch dog
Yep a public watchdog, does it matter who i am? Definitely not management - don't like being disrupted and don't like seeing good people screwed. What is it about management these days who kill the golden goose. Still haven't got an answer and why has this post been relegated to the GA. Is Mount Cook regarded as GA? I thought that was little aircraft.

Six Lima,
If fiji is all go, does that mean there is an end in sight to the contract negotiations??
I thought the pilot group weren't going to discuss the fiji deal until the contract was settled???
Slamer
Sunair in Fiji, has been bought by air pacific and re-equipped with 2 x ATR-42's and I think renamed, possibly Pacific Sun (???). They have asked Mt. Cook to provide crew to help train the locals, I'm guessing there is a similar type endorsment between the -72 and the -42. Was supposed to kick off in june/july but the contract neg's and some legal matters in Fiji have delayed it till now it seems.

Airline's court bid suffers setback
Saturday, September 09, 2006
THE application to dissolve an injunction stopping Air Pacific from starting its domestic services was thrown out by the High Court.
The defendants in the case Air Pacific, Fiji Airlines, which had been set up to begin the domestic airline service, and Sun Air filed a summons in August to dissolve the injunction based on the material non-disclosure by Air Fiji of relevant facts to the court and the time of the application.
High Court Judge Justice Filimone Jitoko, in his decision made on Thursday, stated the relevant facts stated by the defendants related to whether Air Fiji revealed all relevant matters to the court concerning its debts.
"There is nevertheless some disquieting aspects of this case that I wish to bring to counsel's attention,'' he said.
"First, it is clear that the defendants had not seen it fit to reveal everything in the exchange of affidavits.
"I refer specially firstly to Mr (Donald) Collingwood's affidavit it sworn on 25 July where he disclosed that the plaintiff (Air Fiji) as of 31 May owed $126,000.
"While he may have been entitled to present to the court the situation of the plaintiff's debt as of 31 May 2006, he owed a duty, I believe to also inform the court that since then, there has been subsequent payments, at least those payments made before he swore his affidavit of 25th July,"he said.
