If you fly over the equator from south to north, which way would you turn the correction nut in your Directional Gyro...clockwise or anticlockwise?

Geez I'm glad I finished that stupid exam!!

Exam credit slips.......

Dont forget to keep your Knowledge Deficiency Reports!!!

CAA snuck this under the Radar aye....

61.21 Flight tests
to be eligible to undertake a flight test, an applicant must..............
...............produce a knowledge deficiency report for each written
examination required for the written examination credit with evidence of knowledge improvement, certified by a Category A or B flight instructor, in the deficient areas detailed;

How many CPL's around the country have biffed the bottom of their exam credits, but are waiting for an ATPL?

The real question is, where are you going to find a B-Cat at the local hero club that is going to know more about the subjects than someone who is coming up for their command???

Getting off topic but....

if only I had those KDRs still...
Very shortly to do my ATPL and recently heard this. I threw the useless things away years ago. So I emailed ASL, and guess what, now they want some more money out of me. But the reprinted KDR's are the best value on their menu, only "$30 for 2 or more"
I thought i had finished giving money to those thieving pricks, but then a rule amendment. ...

Funny thing here is that you don't need to be a current A/B Cat to sign someones KDR's off, nor do you need to hold the Exam credit yourself to do so either.

Another class innovation from CAA. Senior Co's will just sign each others KDR's off no probs

S2K that is great news I will do just that with one of my FO brothers. So do the CAA put ideas into a hat at smoko and the most ridiculous idea which comes out gets made into legislation?

So does that mean a B Cat working through the ATPL theory can sign off his/her own KDR!?

this is soooo funny

CAA you are just a bunch of Cuns Against Aviation.
Us pilot types have to sit down and struggle through reading a whole lot of infomation to fill our heads full of unnescary st so that we can go in and try to pass some random ASL exam on some topics that we will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever use.
Q. Gimble latitude nut on a compass, which way wil we turn it.
A. We dont fuc turn it any fuc way, the engineer does!
Q. What stops flicker on a CRT screen?
A. Who gives a flying fuc ? if its still working we use it, if it doesnt work any more, we MEL it and write it up and the avionics people fix it.
For god sake! cant we have some exams with questions in that actually relate to what we do... should I remind you, we fly and operate planes. We dont repair, fix, adjust. We sit in the cockpit (the 2 front seats at the front of the plane) from when it takes off to when it lands.
We dont carry a snap-on 3746853746 piece tool kit to carry out gimble nut adjustments or a soldiering iron to repair the CRT screen flicker or anything lke that.
I feel sorry for all of us (yeah me to) that havent sat an ATPL flight test yet to now have to pay more money to get our KDR's and learn stuff that not even important to what we do.
You guys set the exam conditions. 70% pass or below that fail. Simple.
I could go on for hours here but it winds me up so ill just go and hit the books and find out some more uselss infomation so i can pass another stupid irrelavant exam......
good luck to you all out there.

Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!! Who gives a flying fox which gimbal the fricking latitude nut is attached to. My Missus drives a Subaru Justy(!) to and from wherever. She doesn't know what the grade of solder is that holds the steel mesh filter screen covering the pickup tube of her oil pump. And why should she? There are more important things to know. Get the picture ASL, CAA?.............
