A bulkhead doesn't have to be a pressure bulkhead to be a bulkhead. Of course it could be a divider. Not a wall, though. Never a wall.

I didn't realise you had Seneca time... you are clearly an experienced almost-commercial-pilot. Good for you.

Comparing the Dash 8 to other aircraft is a lot like misquoting Churchill, by saying "Democracy is the best form of government, apart from all the others..."

Seriously though, it is a good aircraft to learn your trade on. It is slow, but it is also strong and reliable (apart from some of the modern systems they tacked on, like the NVS).

It appears that you have not being keeping up with the press. Air Nelson have very strongly stipulated that the aircraft is to be called a Q300 and not a Dash 8 because the NZ public may be scared to fly in it following the Palmy incident (Ansett NZ) several years ago.

I sure do hope that this aircraft is the fastest, quietest, most reliable, most spacious machine that it is made out to be. Just drove past the Air Nelson hangers in Nelson and saw about 100 people + the local radio station all having a wee perv at it.

Seems a lot of noise is been made for a simple turbo-prop. Just hope it dosen't all turn upside down for the company when the public get bored with it in 3 months.

Never saw Eagle make even half as much noise about the B1900D.

Though arguably not as simple as what you're flying S2004.

Sqwark2004,

I was refering to the bulkhead/wall discusion that Maseey058 and MOR were having...

But that aside...the joe public that can remember the aircraft involved in the ill fated Palmerston crash will probably also remember that it wasnt the planes fault for crashing.

(uh oh...not to open up a can of worms or anything!)

Have a nice day!

Never said I was flying anything of any great sophistication. In fact, I'd be happy to admit it is a very simple machine and the only thing that could make it even more simple would be an auto pilot.

Nobody cares, but it is fun seeing who will bite.

Congratulations.

Possibly due to the lack of a coat rack and associated walls...

The main noise I've heard the travelling public make re the beech is "oh my god, I didn't know they still made planes with propellors, and look how small it is.... what are all those ugly things hanging off the back"

It is also strong and reliable
Try telling Eastern (s) that it is reliable. Rex gets good loads cause Eastern parks Dash 8's all over NSW.

Just don't make the mistake of getting Dash8-Q400's. Absolute junk and that's being kind me thinks.

They are making operations for flyBE in the UK somewhat challenging since they spend most of their time on the ground tech, the SAS pilots also dispise them.

To be fair, the SAS guys got the first ones which all ended up being "remanufactured" to correct various design shortcomings (like stiffening the fuselage).

However, the flybe ones have been pretty awful, and continue to be a problem. I can well remember one in particular, with only delivery miles on it, having two generators fail, various avionics failures, props that went out of balance if you looked at them funny, and a dead DVS system. And that was after only a week on the line.

It is an aircraft built to a (very cheap) price, and it shows. Hate to think what they will be like in ten years.
