12 TSOs started Tuesday this week, all on B744 out of Sydney (at this stage anyway ).

I know that calls have gone out in the last few days for a Jul 4 course, also based in Sydney.

Good luck to everyone waiting for a call or any form of correspondence!

Thats great news for everyone. Anyone have an idea as to how many on the Jul 4 course and if all the calls have gone out yet. 4 weeks notice sounds a bit unusual for QF. Had ref checks lately myself and it would be great to hear from anyone on the May 31 course or those that have got a start date on Jul 4 as to when they completed stage 3 and ref checks.

In addition to the above info, the company recently released it's promotional training programme for the next 12 months.

Specifically, 20 First Officer slots on the 767, all allocated to current SO's; 34 A330 FO slots, 7 allocated to current SO's; and 24 737 FO slots. all bar one allocated to current SO's.

I post this info so as to illustrate the healthy upwards movement in the QF pilot ranks, and that this might lead into further recruitment.

Hi people

Just wondering if the lucky ones who have had interviews could let us know what sort of hours they currently have, keen to know what range of hours/ages have been getting interviews lately.

cheers and good luck

TD

Of the guys I know up North - somewhere around 1500-2000TT and 200-500ME as a very rough estimate. Take it with a grain of salt though.

Can I also say that this thread is a breath of fresh air. Keep it going.

Congrats to those with start dates and good luck to those waiting.

Thumbs up July 4th

Had a call recently for the big start on July 4th. Still can't get the smile off my face. Type unknown but the word is probably an all 400-course. Things are also looking sweet for further courses. Heaps of training slots allocated recently plus a shortage of S/O's on the 400.

Was also told I may end up in Singas for a couple of years as a second officer base is starting there.

Good luck to all those still waiting, as a very wise relative of mine said to me once "good things come to those who wait" the other day they were proven right. Just enjoy the machine your on now!

Cheers

Does no news, really mean good news?

To anyone wishing to shed some light.

I have recently been through the sim/interview/medical process and like a few others am still awaiting a reply of some sort in the form of Ref Cx or the Thanks for coming letter. All the people that I am in contact with that are in the same boat have been waiting for 6 to 12 weeks.

The other hopefuls and myself are just curious as to what factors might affect someone's application at this stage to not get a response within the standard 3 week period.

Thanks in advance and congratulations to the July 4th starters.

Holding on,

Only QF recruiting can shed any meaningful 'light' on your situation. I don't work in recruiting, so I don't know. The reason/s why you haven't received any correspondence in the time frame you thought was reasonable could be any one of dozens. I understand your frustration, but can I suggest you look at it from their point of view.

The harsh reality of your situation is that you are in a very competitive environment, and I'm sure you are aware of that already. Just because you have jumped through most of the hoops in no way guarantee's you progression to reference checks or the "Thanks, but no thanks" letter in a time frame suitable to yourself. The company has numerous issues to consider when seeking to employ new pilots. These can be training resources, expansion predictions, current economical constraints etc.

The biggest factor for you, and those in your situation, is the fact that if someone finishes the sim/interview/medical process the day after you, and they are rated ahead of you because of their scores, then they move ahead of you on the totem poll. It's as simple as that. What you have to hope for is that those coming after you rate lower than yourself. Don't get too engrossed as to the why's and how's - it's too late and you're wasting your time because there is nothing you can do about it anyway. Be happy that you've given it your best shot and just hope like hell that it will be good enough. I've been there myself, so I know how you feel. Good luck.
