Barry

Paul Reid would be another GV/TN.

What about Bill Moore , wasn't he there right at the end of TN before commencing with Pixie ?.

HANOI. G'day mate. Copied re. Paul Reid. You could be right about Bill Moore but I wasn't aware. Perhaps after I made the disastrous move to "Hockwood Bludge" ? I would have assumed he came into PX direct along with Gamey, Fischer, and Co. ? I seem to remember they all came to MEB together for some initial training. The recent discussion about TAA buses reminded me about a couple of young ops blokes, obviously with very little to do, hopping on selected crew pickup runs, solely to watch a certain hostie walk from her donga to the bus. It was probably as close as they were going to get, but she was a joy to behold. Cheers.

I would imagine the QLD regional CAA were petrified with terror at the prospect of having R.D. Buchanan on their patch

HANOI. From lists to hand I can find no ref. to Bill Moore at Talair.

A couple of other queries if you, (or anyone else), can help, please ?

Dinny/Denny Lawrence was the first FOS. After Lawrence I worked for Rosenberg, Godfrey, Whyte, and Ivanoff as FOS. Then Ray Whyte came back for a second go. Then, after I left, I think John Bayles came up for a while ? Did he become FOS also ? Or perhaps A/FOS ? I was working in MEB, but commuting from BNE, and I remember John Bayles and I both riding jumpseat in a B727 out of MEB, and him asking a million questions about TAA-NG, because he was going up in some pilot management position.

Who was the first Port Check Captain ? Peter Kent, or was there another before Peter ? Then Jack Curtis, Aart Hoffman, John Webb, Larry Blackman. Any others ? Dick Paull ? I think we tried to get Tony Armstrong at one time, but Tony wouldn't be in it.

Bill Moore

Never Douglas. In fact I was there in the old spac when BE sacked bill moore after some dicussion. Bil laughingly informed BE he ws with MacAir!

Barry. I thought that you were after staff who migrated from TAL Pty Ltd to TAA.

Bill Moore was Macair then TAA late 1973 on F27 to be trained for PX.

Peter Griffiths definately TAL (ATC before that) and did join TAA maybe in 1970's.

PIxies and Magic Toadstools.

Must be the Pilots. Someone said that they are looking pleased with themselves and it may not be the recent pay rise.

Sky-high pregnancies hamper PNG airline
By Liam Fox in Port Moresby
ABC NEWS.

Updated Wed Apr 1, 2009 5:53pm AEDT

Papua New Guinea is experiencing major flight disruptions across the country because of a spate of pregnancies at its biggest airline.

Air Nuigini says nearly half of its recently recruited cabin crew members have fallen pregnant, making them unavailable for work.

The pregnancies have caused domestic flights to be cancelled or delayed.

A spokeswoman for the airline could not say how many flights have been affected or how long the disruptions will continue.

She says the company is recruiting new cabin staff and they are expected to be working within the next three months.

Because of Papua New Guinea's challenging geography, flying is the only way to travel around the country.

Graham Humphries went from TAL to TAA I think, but do you mean TaTaas in PNG?
I think Sparses name was mentioned in Gove with the NT Aerial Med Dove at sometime post PNG? It was crewed by TAA.

I would imagine the QLD regional CAA were petrified with terror at the prospect of having R.D. Buchanan on their patch........
Tenders closed for the western Queensland Subsidised Air Route Contract on April 28, 1987. On May 13 The Director, Queensland Transport call me to advise our Tender had been accepted and operations were to commence on June 1, the day after the TAA Jetstream services ceased.

On May 14 I employed Ray Feltman as Chief Pilot and engaged Noel Belamy to assist with the Ops Manual etc.

To cut a long story short, we had all documentation to DCA/CAA around May 25 and conducted King Air surveillance flights. DCA/CAA advised there was no outstanding requirements for the AOC.

On May 31 I called the then DCA/CAA Regional Director inquiring about our AOC as services were due to commence at 6:30 am next day. He advised me DCA/CAA required 90 days to approve and issue an AOC and advised we would not be able to operate on June 1.

"Oh, but we must operate tomorrow morning and the flight will depart" says Torres.

"How can you operate without an AOC?" smugly asked Owen of the DCA.

"I'll operate in private category and provide a free service as required under our Contract." replied Torres. "And to ensure our service is appreciated, I'll invite the media to take up any empty seats if they print the story and promote our airline!"

7:30 pm on May 31, 1987 DCA/CAA issued the AOC and the first revenue flight to Longreach departed at 6:30 am June 1, 1987.

That caper cost me dearly and had a lot to do with my subsequent post Flight West problems with CASA.

I think Sparses name was mentioned in Gove with the NT Aerial Med Dove at sometime post PNG? It was crewed by TAA.
Sparse flew a Nomad on the NT Aerial Medical Service after he left PNG and before he joined Flight West.

Sharpie: Yeah, I'm still saying 10 Hail Marys every day, (and no impure thoughts), just in case, but so far, so good, (apart from getting a name or two wrong). I think we must be getting close with the TAL/TAA list and I'll post ASAP. I'm just cleaning up a bit after some 400 plus mls of rain here on the Sunshine Coast yestda. Cheers.

HANOI: In my telling of the story there were two of us indulging in the Virginia H fantasy, and that doesn't include her. Why does that wondrous vision remain so clearly in my mind to this day ? I might have to take back what I said to Sharpie about "no impure thoughts".

Did you see the other (less interesting) couple of queries re FOS and PCC ?

Cheers.
