I was going to label the F-28 "Hot" or a little high but not having flown it, I didn't want to be corrected by someone with superior knowledge. (◔◡◔)

The F28 was a jet powered E55 Baron...awesome fun. No better jet to learn in.

The Phantom was indeed holding court at the Malagan Lodge through the early/mid 90s. Had many a beer and yarn with him there. Last time in late 94...a few months after we got blown out of Rabaul.

Ah, the 'Phantom'. As mentioned earlier, he was a top bloke. Knew him when he was running the Kieta Hotel in the early '80's, when we changed from the Davara for our overnights. He always looked after our crews, nothing was too much trouble (not that we caused him any trouble), and it was always a pleasure to stay there, and have a beer with and talk to him. The Group he worked for would buy a run-down pub and put him in as manager, and he would make it a goldmine.

Standby scum,

The photo on the left, shot out of an Islander? maybe Kawito?

The one on the right, somewhere on the fly river, Lake Murray ? Bosset?

Many years old!

I think the F28 stamp was supposed to be over Madang and I know the Twin Otter stamp was copied from a photo taken in the Goroka - Kainantu area.

Stowaways.

Many years ago at a fuel stop at Cooktown, on the way to POM, saw this bunch of bees trying to hitch a ride to somewhere on a C172. The photo is a bit faded-a bit like the photographer these days.

Question Bee;s you had !!

Please do tell how the swarm were sorted ?.
I landed on a heli pad a few years ago with a BK117 helicopter and blew a swam away from the side of the pad, luckily the ball of bee's departed at very high speed directly away from me.

Hardly see any at all these days. Not that I am particularly fond of the little blighters after having been stung around the head by several of them once, but they do have their place in the scheme of things.

P2 BOB

Last P2 BOB I saw was owned by Bob Bates Trans Niugini Tours at HGU.

It is indeed Bob Bates 55 Baron originally painted brown. My man in Hagen thinks it was painted in it's present colours about two years ago in Oz.
Spoke to him today and he says the Hagen weather has been particularly r/s the last couple of days-a bit unusual for this time of year, Hope it improves in the next couple of weeks as I want to do a couple of weeks flying around the country.
Does anyone know what New Britain weather should be like this time of year?
I seem to remember that the North side of the island should be ok whilst the South side not so-or is it the other way around?

Where is Bernie Flanagan ? My wife and I were in Mendi for a couple of years,74/76 with Macair to begin with then Talair after the buyout ! Was groomsman along with Tony Alderson with Max Parker as best man. Bernie was married to Hellen by The Rev Captain Doug McGraw assisted by a Franciscan Monk who I am ashamed to admit whose name escapes me at this moment. I last saw Bernie while he was the Prangs and Bangs man in 1989 in POM and had gon pinis when I was last there in 1991 for a while with MBA . Rta with hep A and malaria never to return .Contracts dont seem to mean much in PNG. Any one who can give me a contact ,leave a message on PM. Nothing important ,just to get in touch.

Max was always a hot item as best man.
The BEST Best man had to be Ramu Grant. in fact he was Max and Angies at Gokora
He had everyone in stitches of laughter but I'm sure he must of felt a little nervous that night with Dennis standing behind him.
He had just parked a 402 in the Ramu.
