Re: QF Selection process letter
I was wondering if anyone who has taken part in the recent QF pilot selection process would be able to shed some light on this letter I received after bombing out on stage 1.
I was going to give them a call and still will if I don't get a response but I thought this post might help others if they get the same letter.
My main questions are, "Is this the never apply again letter?" and "How soon should I re-apply if this isn't the never apply again letter?"
If any one can help with these questions or post the replies that they got that would be great. Below is the letter.
Dear ..."me"......
Thank you for your recent participation in the Qantas pilot selection process.
Qantas receives a large number of applications for the limited number of pilot positions available and this makes each stage of the selection process highly competitive. Following a careful review of your file, I regret to advise you that other candidates have been found to more closely meet our requirements. Your application for employment as a Qantas pilot has therefore been unsuccessful and we are unable to progress your file any further.
On behalf of the Recruitment Panel I would like to thank you for you interest in Qantas and for the time and effort you have put into your application.
Yours sincerely,
Robyn Hind

I've had that letter.
Got really bummed about it. Moved house, changed jobs, even changed states.
Out of the blue I got called back. They went out of their way (really out of their way) to find me. Called back for more.
The rest is history.
Moral of the story: Never say never and never give up if that's what you really want.

Why all the PM's?? It's not THAT sinister!
Honky, all well and good to get an answer here, but you'll never really know till you just ring them up. Simple question, simple answer... they're not going to bite your head off.

I just met the Q minimums and received the same letter this week. Currently trying to decide what to do to try and make myself more competitive, but I am approaching the mid 30's and feel time may be running out.
Anyone have have same story as o1genesis?

This was about 3 years ago, but... I was called back within a week and given a date for about 4 weeks later.
I then bombed the simulator and/or the interview, so make sure
1/. you are current and proficient with your IF scan; and
2/. you know your stuff about the QF fleet - types, numbers, engines etc.
To those that know:
What is the correct response when they find that hole in your knowledge?
"Gee that's a hole in my preparation, I'll never make that mistake again?"

Hi All,
Had that letter 2 times but mine did have a statement saying "this doesn't prevent from applying again in the future"
I'm on my third app and have made it to the sim and interview level. Just keep at it. Phone calls well that's anyones guess but i've found they start to get short with you eventually. Hasn't stopped me calling just to find out the progression though
Anyone that's done the interview and sim lately whould appreciate some insight. PM me please.
