Jobs in Scandinavia

Hi
I am looking a job from Denmark as my girlfriend would like to move back. I have FAA ATP and HS 125 and CE550 ratings 4000 hrs total. Is danish language required?

Don't take this the wrong way, mate, but with the current market you are unqualified (Non JAR Licence) and fairly low time. There are people with more hours who can't get work here.

Not much help, sorry.

You may want to enquire at the CAA (www.slv.dk) about converting FAA licences.

Good Luck.

JAR licence

JAR licence is quite vital when seeking aviation jobs in Europe. I think that first thing to do is to convert your licence and then start a job hunt.

tekel 28th May 2004 18:54

I have been informed that Danish "SVL" will validate my FAA license for a year without any problems and maybe for longer until I have a chance to do JAA conversion. I will be moving to Copenhagen next month and hope that my brothers from north can help me to find a GOOD job. I prefer bizjets.

Don't know any Danish Hawker or Citation operators but Execujet in Roskilde has many Lears and also some Global Express. If you are interested in go and see their web page.
I am quite surprised to hear that Danish CAA will validate your FAA licence.
It would also help if you are able to speak danish.
From which country you originate?

Hi Blues,
Thanks for the info. I will call them up! I am in process to marry Danish girl and I will then get Danish passport. I am not able to speak the language but sure will learn when in Copenhagen. I come from Pakistan.

I thought you had to wait 5 years before you could get a Danisch pasport?

tekel 30th May 2004 11:48

PD,
I have been told that I will get a Permanent Residence Permit immediately and then Passport soon after. That makes me able to accept the flying job when ever I like.
Is there anybody with information of SAS. I may also consider airline job. Do SAS hire DE captains, salaries etc.?

Not to get you down but I'm also a foreigner 4000 hr DA20 rated JAA-ATPL EU pasport and unable to get a job in scandinavia,

I have to admit that I've been trying only in Norway and north sweden.

PD,
I will be living in Copehagen. Moving in three weeks time, Insallah.
Maybe see you there.

Danish Job...easy

Having worked in Denmark, with only a FAA ATP, and no problems with SLV, I am surprised with this load of rubbish. Just ask the SLV to validate your foreign licence, they will always do this for foreigners. I worked in Sweden several years ago, and was told to leave as the Swedish Pilots Union had been under pressure to remove all the foreigners, (Danes) from Sweden. So I was forced to leave too. Best of luck seeking employement in Denmark, they did have an open door for aliens...Just look at the number of kebab shops....windy

tekel 31st May 2004 10:26

Windy,
Thank you very much for this important info. Makes me feel more easy . I have sent several applications yesterday and hopefully will have some positive respond next few days. I can accept interviews mid June by all interested airlines.
I already like Copehagen and look forward to my new life there.

Have you already checked if you can join to Danish Pilot Union?
Would help a lot to join???

Timilu 31st May 2004 20:54

Tekel,

Youīll probably get a stay/workpermit rather quick after getting married, but passport will take several years. I donīt remember if itīs 5 or 7, but I remember friends waiting for a long time after marrying a dane.

DE captīs in SAS, forget about it. Maybe in a few years, after rehiring laid off pilots, they will start to recruit newhire co pilots.

Sorry for bringing bad news.

Rgds, and good luck

Timilu

Does anyone have a list of VIP jets in Copehagen?
Before accepting any airline job would like to contact those owners first.
Tack

So with a A-320 type, 1Ok total, plenty of pic A-320 and an FAA license, can one find a job in DK?

Yes, got the right to live etc.

But seems to me, that there should be plenty of Danish, not to mention EU pilots vying for the few jobs there are?

Aerosmith 2nd Jun 2004 09:00

NONE of the airlines in Denmark are hiring at the moment! Hundreds of fired/furloughed pilots waiting to return. General Aviation pretty much nonexistant at the moment. Lots of Bizjet drivers waiting in line. Latest belly up of Aviation Assistance left an additional 50 pilots on the street.
It doesn't look to good.
Frankly, without a JAR license, forget it.
It's a Tough marked at the moment.

Comical Ali 2nd Jun 2004 09:40

You sure make it sound pretty bad. I feel that there is always a job available for professional pilot with a good experience. Maybe danish pilot's have just priced them self out from the market?

I have also sent my CV for several owners and have reveived quite a good response. Maybe see you soon there.

"Maybe danish pilot's have just priced them self out from the market?"

Hmm, I am sure you shall be welcomed with that attitude!

Do let us know, who you get on with. I wouold be interested in seeing who is hiring!

Tekel,

Just curious, are you aware of any airline hiring in Denmark, as far as I know, most, if not all of them, have people on furlough/laid off. When they do rehire, it will probably be in seniority order.

Me thinks you are dreaming!
