By the way Tekel,

Have you considered applying a job as an aircraft engineer. I think that many of you guys, where you come from, have both qualifications; pilot and engineer.
I suggest to try that route first and as we all know danes are very open minded for strangers and what comes to the language, danish or english, they will even teach you for free.

I seem to remember hearing that people who were receiving positive replies from SAS (and by that I mean procedure completed and job offered) were unlikely to get a start date within the next five years. I can't remember if I heard this just before or just after the attack on the WTC.

I agree with you, though; getting any reply in the current state of affairs is very positive.

Is there a real shortest of experienced engineers as well? I am licensed by FAA and could quite happily accept a position as engineer in beginning. Someone with more info?
What is the pay etc.. I have no objection to move immediately for the right job!

My passport is all sorted out. I will receive a permanent residence permit first and can work as any other Dane then after.
Passport will take a little longer, but not many years.

I prefer to have a cockpit job instead as engineer. However, I am also holding A&P License. Maybe it will be useful for some Danish owner. Any info welcome.

Finnish companies are recruiting all the time. Blue1 is or at least was hiring pilots. They operate RJs and SF2Ks. Base is ofcourse in Finland and applicant should have knowledge of Swedish or Finnish and English. Air Finland was also hiring pilots for B757 but they prefferred Finnish nationality and good knowledge of the finnish language.
But hey, give it a try, you won´t get nothing if you don´t push it hard. Good luck.

I will obviously have my best go in Copehagen. I feel confident that my kind of experienced and hard working man will get a job. Even if there seem to be lot of fellows with negative attitude for their future. Some of us don't simply like to work.
I don't speak danish or swedish yet, only urdu and english but feel confident that in few short months my new employer will be surprised when I come and ask a raise in danish!!

As Timilu said, you should do your homework before starting a windup.

First of all, you can not get a permanent residence permit until after you have completed an introductory course, passed a Danish language test and have live legally in the country for 7 years. Until then you can only get a temporary permit for maximum one year.

Secondly, it will take a minimum of 8 years before you can apply for a Danish passport, that is you are married, otherwise it is 9 years.

Now, I won't bore you with geography, but you obviously also have a few things to learn in that department. But since you know Urdu, I suggest you take Rule Distance Zero's advice and look for work in Finland instead.

You obviously do not know anything about Danish rules. Just stay away behind your hills. I will arrive to Copehagen soon and get my life going in good Scandinavian way! I am a hard working honest man and there will be no problem at all.
If I can't get a position as captain in beginning I am ready to work as licensed engineer. Main thing is to make a good start and I am sure that Allah will look after me.

Do you know situation in other Scandinavian countries for pilots? Which country you come from, Finland? I have no objection to work in Finland as well but not able to speak language. Maybe better life in Copenhagen? Is there lot of foreign pilots working in Scandinavia? All info helps.

Tekel, it is obviously YOU who do not know the rules.

I have been quoting the official regulations, and if you think otherwise you will be in for a rude awakening.

I am Danish and I can guarantee you that you are fooling yourself if you think it is as easy as you say. And an FAA A&P is of no use in a JAR country. As you should know. Either way, you will only get a work permit if no local (EU or Nordic) are available for the job.

BTW it is Copenhagen, might help you if you spell it correctly. And don't say thank you in swedish. You Danish girlfriend should have corrected you a long time ago....no?

Please, understand that my situation is different. I am not immigrating alone to Denmark. I will marry a danish girl and I will have all necessary paperwork ready in no time. Thank you very much for your advices anyway. Are you working in Copehagen?
With what airline? Is your company short of experienced crew?
I am trying to check all possible avenues to find a job. I also have few very experience friends looking the possibility to move for more peacefull location with better future prospects.
I am sorry but my danish is not more than few words. You know , between man and woman, we speak english when together. I am sure that I will surprise you soon with my danish!

Infact, you will have to prove that you and your (future) danish wife have more connections to Denmark than elsewhere. If not you will not even get a temporary residence permit.
