Techman,
I am afraid that you constantly miss the point! I am not just moving to Denmark to work. My case is different, it is called "Family Reunification". Denmark, as any civilized society understand that they can not split the family! I can't be requested to work in Middle East while my wife is alone in Copehagen. This is not acceptable nowhere in the world!

If you can help and be informative how to find the best possible job I would be for ever your friend.

Do you know if I can work everywhere in Scandinavia with my danish permit?
Tekel

Techman 3rd Jun 2004 01:54

Tekel, I am not missing your point. Even if you are marrying a danish national you will still have to prove that you and your bride's connections to Denmark are stronger than to elsewhere.

And the rest of what I've posted about passports and residences permits still apply.

Aerosmith 3rd Jun 2004 06:39

Beware, my friend, that laws regarding family reunification have changed recently. Being married to a Dane is not enough to recieve work permit, recidency and especially citizenship. I urge you to get info on this issue; you might be in for a rude awakening! You obviously havent been doing your homework. You simply do not show up at the pearly gate, saying "where is my left seat?"
Secondly, without a JAR license, your FAA ticket is worthless.
Thirdly, HUNDREDS of furloughed pilots are AHEAD of you in the jobmarked, but I ofcourse salute your determination.

Miserlou 3rd Jun 2004 07:46

WIND UP ALERT! What the hell, let's play along; it's fun.

As Aerosmith says the rules have changed and being married to a Dane is not enough to get a residence permit.

I for one would love to be a fly on the wall when you call any chief pilot and tell them the story you've told here, Tekel.
Just to see if he keeps a straight face or if he actually laughs out loud.

"Excuse me, I know nothing about your country but would you let me be a captain and fly your aeroplane around? I'm not sure if I actually want to work for you or whether I will take up a position in an airline......"

Maybe you're just very naive.

tekel 3rd Jun 2004 10:58

We have most captains expatriates in Middle East! We have no restrictions for any foreigners to work.
I do not understand your statements that you have
"hundreds of furloughed pilots" in front of me.
What that has to do with me?
I am a humble man and willing to work for less if it is necessary.
My FAA license is valid and perfectly good for validation in any country in this planet. If I need later sit few exams for local license I have no problem with that either.
I was expecting more professional advise and promising news from you than constant cry that you have no jobs and no this or that....
After I get settled maybe I will get your aviation for the right track!
Tekel

Well put Tekel!
After you get settled, sort the aviation out in Denmark! We are all ready to come and work with you hard. There is obviously something wrong as the rest of Scandinavia is booming. In Finland many jobs for experienced pilots but I don't speak language.
Keep up !
Ali

Tekel,
I am not trying to put you down, just trying to give you a reality check, so you won't be disappointed.
By "hundreds of furloughed pilots" I mean that the airlines are contractually obliged to rehire these individuals as per their seniority. First then will they hire outsiders. Loads of them are waiting in line. You will NOT be able to skip in front of others if you, as you state; "are willing to work for less". This is not how things work up here.
Again, your FAA license isn't worth anything at the moment. You will be able to get a validation for a shorter period, but thats it. You need a JAA license (look into it!) Why would the airlines hire somebody, train them at great cost, just to see them standing with an expired license after a year?? Loads of JAA licensed guys and gals are waiting out there.
It is a pretty tedious and expensive exam, but I wish you the best of luck.
All I can say is please dont be naive about the worksituation up here. Unfortunately it aint that easy at the moment.

I wish you the best of luck
