You think I know ferknothing....actually I know ferk....ALL

Saudi-PC9 and Agent86

That was Major Akheel who made that famous statement (see previous page). I can recall Colonel Roubeya (OC 9 Sqn), whose English was much better than Akheel's, lowering his head into his hands at that moment. Roubeya wasn't a bad sort. Neither was the Saudi Major (R*****?) who got sacked from the Wing after the big King Fahad flypast - for telling Col Othman he was full of camel droppings.

If I recall correctly, Akheel's faux pas was said in front of the staff instructors upon the occasion of reviewing once again why we didn't have any Saudi RSAF Officers in Standards (just the senior resident Paki - who was a good stick and a not too stout Muslim). In fact there were two Pakis there in 9 Sqn at the time, both Majors and the younger one got sacked by his own govt for refusing to pick up the tab for his own air-ticket back from Pakistan after GW1. He was almost a true Expat.... and married to a Western girlie as I recall. But the most evil Prince of all was the poisoned dwarf called Farhan. He may have been royalty, but the combination of Prince Wayne and Prince Farhan made going to work too too much eventually. They were the terrorists of their day.

Apart from getting sacked by Othman for fiddling the books, anyone know what happened to Wayne?

...**** nothing...**** all

How old is this story? I notice you identify the people involved.

When I was a sprog at Swinderby, the Padre, an ex Jap POW told us this story, and that was in October 1977. (The story originating from his POW days)

Are you sure this tale is not apoth..apoph...handed down from man to boy?

Don't mean to cast aspersions.

A 86, Overtalk, SirPeter etc.

The first time I saw the **** nothing, **** all aphorism in print, it was in a book copyright 1951 by Nicholas Monsarrat called "The Cruel Sea" . I imagine the legend dates to well before that.

After an excellent landing you can use the airplane again.

Nothing apocryphal, happened as related, just after we all got back together in Kingdom after GW1 and retrieved the jets from Al Kharj. And trust me that Akheel wasn't pulling the pith. He was denser than lead and a Muttowa to boot. I flew a checkride with him that included the main runway getting blacked by a KC135 just as we got back from al Kharj on Strikey min fuel in a nasty sandstorm in the Kuwaiti oil-smoke. I just bent it around onto the cross runway and this pillock Akheel says (as we turned a close-in base): "Tell them we want touch and go". "You tell him Major". He was no mental giant.

I haven't read the Cruel Sea in years but I can't imagine Jack Hawkins or Donald Sinden saying "**** this or **** that" or any RN Officer of the era - let alone Nicholas Monsarrat the author. But I may be wrong. However at the time - laugh, did we laugh. But necessarily, it was all eerily soundless. Selling one's soul in those days is different to imperilling one's mortal structure in the present circumstances. I wouldn't be hanging around there nowadays. They're too unpredictable, life's too precious.....and no-one trusts the Company.

Someone outta write a !!!!. It is beyond understanding, even given the best description of this place, unless you are actually here. "Yes Debbie I know what it feels like to have that put there" only applies if it has. For those that know Prince Wayne there is no doubt as to why he fitted in so well in the land of arrogance and ignorance

I haven't read "The Cruel Sea" for a long time either. As I recall, the notional conversation was between a Russian security type and either Lockhart or Ericson. It took place at Archangel or Murmansk and the word in the book was "damn". The force and effect are the same though. I don't remember the scene being in the excellent movie.

After an excellent landing you can use the airplane again!

Well I'm sure you all know that if you can't laugh about this place then you will go out of your mind!!!
My favourite question was

IP-- Cadet bloggs how many degrees in a circle?

Cadet bloggs-- Ahhh ummmm errrr, big or small circle?

IP-- (mouth open) why don't you choose, no wait, I'll choose... small !!!

Cadet bloggs--Ahhh ummmm errrr, four degrees

Even the Saudi Major sitting in the front turned around at that answer.

Well. if we are telling stories out of school - how about this one. RSAF full Colonel looking puzzled at the photocopier "How can I help you Colonel" said the subservient old Brit (SOB).
"I need to make bigger copy" said Colonel.
"What size do you need?" said SOB.
"100%" said the Colonel.

I would have done it for him but the guy was an a**hole.

Heard from a little bird that a fair number of redundancies amongst ground staff at a certain location will be announced shortly.
Does this mean that after 30+ years BWOS has at last achieved Saudiisation ?
Yeah - right !!

Attempt to kidnap Saudi dissident in London?

Try this link:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/uk/3011938.stm

If the Saudis are responsible, best be careful out there.

Just heard that the company may be waking up to the fact that there's a problem. Being some 14 PC-9 instructors down at Riyadh, the manpower situation has been described as "disastrously short". Action? Response?

DH,
Just curious who mentioned that the manning was "disastrously short"? Was it the company? I think we are low now and it will get lower after August. Also when Ramadan comes I think we will see another lot of IP's head home.
One thing we do have on our side at the moment is that the cadet numbers are down but that might change soon and then we will be up sh1t creek without a paddle.

Why not on the Mil. forum?
The ex-pat flying instructors will be 100% recent ex military. Most of the Engineers/ technicians will also be ex mil. The aircraft are military and the trainees are military. Do you want another forum? 'Military, but not my bit.'

With a View count of 13262 (and rising) for a measly 95 posts there must be a LOT of people interested in what goes on the the Magic Kingdom.

Probably those that have, those that are, and those that are thinking about it

Now about those holes in the Strikemaster wing "Captain"...How low were you????

There could be a lot more than 95 posts if BWOS management had the bottle to answer their critics.
Perhaps they consider that that would be bringing themselves down to our level !!
