He was suspended in October and is about to face a gross misconduct hearing. There is also a criminal investigation ongoing.

Statistically (I know, I know), the pension is invariably kept, it’s only in instances of the worst sort of criminality it is lost and even then, the individuals contributions are not lost.

I agree with Sloppy. He may well lose his pension and any lump sum but his contributions will be returned to him.

More details here. I guess it depends how you define “serious”!

To do otherwise than to return his contributions would in effect be levying a fine without legal process would it not?

I do some part time work for an organisation involved with police training in Northamptonshire. To a man/woman the officers I've encountered were dissatisfied with his leadership style and strategic decision making process. According to the ones who've spoken about him, he was high handed and rarely consulted his SLT before promulgating policy changes that had an effect on the entire force. An example was the introduction of an Interceptor squad using souped up Skodas. They're the only type in the force, making them a nightmare to service/repair. The officers driving them weren't trained to handle them so they're often invloved in RTAs and off the road.

They're much happier with the stand in CC.

This is interesting

https://deekhotv.com/article/walter-...-the-conflict/

Note, wearing an officers cap in the first photo though not entitled as he never was one.

There is also a photo of his brother wearing his Falklands medal in 2020, though he said his brother gave him the medal in 2013.

Another image shows him wearing the FI medal but no GSM.

NI Medal ribbon before the FI medal

Medal positions reversed

Look over there !

Surely being a decent policeman far outweighs his fashion sense , as he is not in the headlines for other reasons unlike some of his colleagues we can assume he is a good policeman , especially someone who has been around that long . To forgive is Devine etc anyway I thought the group photo was a wind up as normally the light blue beret of the AAC should be front & centre as they regularly claim it’s the hardest regiment in the army to get into etc etc

A constable's career lives and dies by their probity. You can't be a known liar and stand up in court saying that you saw someone do a naughty thing - the defence will introduce doubt into the jury and you'll never get a conviction.

Of course everyone expects a Chief Constable to lie. They're politicians. But like politicians they can't get caught.

So, if true, it's career ending. But no more than that.

Fashion sense?? Since when has wearing medals been anything to with fashion? It’s about showing that you’ve served your country. If he put a VC up, you’d be ok with that then?

Good policemen don’t fabricate their past.

Don't know if he's wearing another ribbon, Nutty, but he is sitting looking unbearably smug alongside Ms Braverperson - which is surely a resigning offence?

Look over there !

I wonder what a psychiatrist would say both about the chief constable and those who take such enormous ownership and offence at his relatively harmless fantasy .

"Inspector, why do you keep tugging at your trousers?"
"Madam, you know the ballroom down Main Street?"
"No, there isn't one!"
"Neither is there in these £4 trousers!"
