From an article in the New York Times; although pay-walled there is free viewing for 10 ± articles/month.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/21/w...r-snipers.html

What you need to understand about a sniper mission is that from the minute it begins to the minute it ends, everything you do is in service of killing another human being.

But almost no one says that. So it was a little startling when — standing in the stairwell of a half-destroyed building in southern Ukraine, in the midst of a mission with a team of Ukrainian snipers — one soldier decided to explain to me his moral calculations when killing Russian troops.

The video is so grainy that you can't really tell whether those are Gaz or Bedford, but I'd guess ZIL-131 as a more probable vehicle. Even though russkies save and store every old piece of weaponry on open fields just in case, I really doubt they'd have any GAZ AA's to deliver for combat (those were licensed Ford AA's). Even they can't be THAT stupid.

But they really can be very stubbornly incompetent: a BMP driver casually runs over his own troops. Second army in the world.

An interesting read into Russian losses and their increase of troops into Ukraine.

Avdiivka, the Russian graveyard… the only reason I can fathom is why they keep trying is in the hope Ukraine runs out of ammo.. or troops.

Some sound Russian logic as to their failings.

More “Red on Red”… I am surprised the infantry do not kill the crews themselves. Though I do wonder if it is down to poor training as in the dismounted troops haven’t been taught to disperse clear of the APC so as to avoid this happening.

Russian helicopter pilots appear to be not impressed with the Air Defence and the offer of medals.

Great 180 - pity it just took him straight back into the kill box…

From the thread
Since Russia's offensive started on 11 Oct Russian invaders have reportedly lost:
11620 troops
5 Planes
8 Helo
264 Tanks
344 Artillery
524 APC/IFV
17 MLRS
294 logistics vehicles
7 Anti-air systems

No Rus gains around #Avdiivka on the map
Russian serviceman Dmitry Filatov known as Vozhak Z on Telegram says that Russian soldiers who rotate from #Avdiivka return with "empty, icey eyes" after heavy battles and says the Avdiivka strongpoint is hidden underground, and little Ukrainian activity is noticed on the surface

Russia launched 36 FAB-500/1500 guided glide bombs at targets on both sides of the Dnipro yesterday.

They also struck a postal depot.

Vlogger speculates that USA will supply Ukraine with time-expired ATACMS missiles: 1270 of different types available. Big cost-saving in not having to dspose of missiles responsibly when UKr can just drop them on RuA and RuAF.
