50 YEARS

On the 14th June 1971 33 Squadron was reformed at Odiham. Despite the forecasts of the Wessex and Sea King brigades that their Pumas would fall apart like confetti they have outlasted them both.

When I was on 33 it was a Javelin Squadron at Middleton St George, including guard duty on the flight line during a well known weekend in late October '63. Coming up to 60 years ago.

Hawker Tempest II MW763 G-TEMT

First roll out of G-TEMT, owned by Anglia Aircraft Restorations, coming to the end of restoration and now only waiting for completion of the Bristol Centaurus VI engine.

The scheme is that of 33 Sqdn as worn in Malaya in the 1950’s

Your memory must be playing tricks. 33 Sqn disbanded in November 1962 with a lot of crews and aircraft going to Germany. By Oct 63 MSG was pure Lightning OCU.
