US DoD FY22 Budget Requests

Nuclear Modernization:
  • B-21 Long Range Strike Bomber - $3 billion
  • COLUMBIA Class Ballistic Missile Submarine - $5 billion
  • Long-Range Stand-Off (LRSO) Missile - $609 million
  • Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) - $2.6 billion
Missile Defeat & Defense:
  • Sea-Based Interceptors (SM-3 IIA and SM-3 IB) - $647 million
  • Sea-Based Ballistic Missile Defense System (AEGIS BMD) - $1 billion
  • Ground-Based Midcourse (GMD) and Improved Homeland Defense/Next Generation Interceptors (NGI) - $1.7 billion
  • Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Ballistic Missile Defense - $562 million
  • Patriot Advanced Capability Missile Segment Enhancement - $777 million
Lethal Air Forces Investment:
  • 85 x F-35 Joint Strike Fighters - $12 billion
  • 14 x KC-46 Tankers - $2.5 billion
  • 9 x CH-53K King Stallion - $1.7 billion
  • 12 x F-15EX - $1.5 billion
  • 30 x AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopters - $825 million
Air Force Divesting Aircraft:
48 x F-15C/D
47 x F-16 C/D
42 x A-10
20 x RQ-4 (Block 20 + 30)
18 x KC-135
14 x KC-10
13 x C-130H
4 x E-8

Some interesting "bang for buck" comparisons in these numbers:
  • 9 x CH-53K King Stallion - $1.7 billion
  • 12 x F-15EX - $1.5 billion
  • 30 x AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopters - $825 million
30 Apaches for less than half the cost of 9 Stallions. Someone's having a laugh.

I believe the Apaches are largely re-manufactured airframes instead of new builds

lol you’re doing the howling for the Warthog community then again you know what it’s gonna be like …the Warthog will be living legend and untouched like a endangered species.

The budget on the whole does not seem too bad
