It’s simply a little gauche IMHO. Something understated would have been my own preference, but as John Q Tax-payer, I along with others merely get to foot the bill.
And there's Britain's problem, always 'understated'...
We're not perfect, but we're not a banana republic by a very long way.

I have to agree about AF01. Glad they’re losing that strange pale blue and random chrome look.
My god, you can please half the people all if the time and all..........Well you know the rest.
Looks quite good to me !
Now, are we going to see it at airdisplays when they return, just like the superb displays by the NZ Government 757..

How to describe the style of the new 'Boris Bus' ...
I feel sorry for the crews who will have to operate this visual horror - presumably they will emplane and deplane under cover of either night or a jacket over the head?

I wonder what the bit of crap that fell off the side at 2:59 in the video is. Bit of masking left on it? Seems to come from around the port horizontral stabiliser of possibly port side of teh vertical stabiliser.

On post 316 as the aircraft rotates a large piece of blue material appears to detach from the left wing root area and fall back onto the runway.
Could this be masking material which was not removed prior to flight?

Well the LAE that had to sign that paint job off failed his post paint inspection checks for removing all masking. God, that reminds me last year with the EJR repaints. Better not show them on here because they were tartan. May upset the St George lager brigade.
It's not part of the RAF tanker fleet, it's one of the "Surge" aircraft in the Air Tanker inventory that has been returned from lease from an airline that went out of business. It needed an interior refit and repaint anyway so why not assign it to the government as a VIP transport? It's not as if that was a new idea. We had a whole fleet of aircraft and two complete RAF Stations dedicated to Royal/VIP transportation when I served back in the 60s/70s. For long-haul overseas diplomacy we'd happily convert two VC10s for Royal or Prime Ministerial trips at the drop of a hat. But of course RAF airmens' labour and paint supplies are free of charge, aren't they?
