Thanks, but I think I'll stick with Orac's rumours.

I'm enjoying ORACs helpful summaries of whats going on in the X'sphere rather than having to doomscroll it myself for hours on end, so keep posting them please.
I'd rather not have to read posts of people moaning they don't want to see it. You know, you could just, not open the thread?

There's lots of Iranians that wish the regime gone who have been providing targeting intelligence to Mossad over the decades.
Even though the leadership may have been decapitated, the lower tiers of the IRGC still have enough small arms to suppress the population.
Somehow I doubt that that there would be a touchy-feely Truth and Reconciliation process ŕ la South Africa after a regime change. Lower level IRGC personnel likely expect a major reduction in life expectancy post regime change.

Word has it that the IRGC are looking to talk.
President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday afternoon Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead, claiming the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are seeking immunity from the U.S.Trump said he hopes the IRGC and police will "peacefully merge" with Iranian patriots to stabilize the country.

I wonder if US/Israel have Iranian drone factories in their target sets.
And what that might mean for the war in Ukraine if so.
EDIT: probably little effect as I see they are now been made in Russia under licence.

The only way you will ever change that situation would be boots on the ground, with the massive casualties that you would generate as you then enter Afghanistan 2.0
You simply have removed the top tier, and all it means is they will be replaced and by possibly even harder liners.

Considering the few video feeds I have seen, there's a LOT of people on the Iranian streets openly celebrating. Are the IRGC going to decimate them, without a leader to take the flack from now on...?

If the regime security forces do engage protestors might they not find themselves killed in an airstrike?! Earlier today I saw footage of a group of what looked like regime riot police travelling in daylight in a convoy of vehicles. I could imagine that would be a very easy and tempting target for the USAF, USN or IDF.

More curious of the fate of the Iranian’s sub force.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth late on Saturday broke his silence about the U.S. strikes on Iran, which he described as the “most lethal, most complex, and most-precision aerial operation in history.”
I think of two strikes that would easily eclipse this one.
Why is Hegseth in charge? (That question is rhetorical.)

PH's rhetoric is of no consequence. He's adhering to the party line.
What matters is what happens when the strikes (eventually) stop in a few days.
Then what?
The ayatollah's have invested about 46 years into being the leaders of the 'axis of resistance.'
For the moment, the continuation of that capability is in doubt.

From a military perspective I’m curious what benefit the Iranians thought they would gain attacking civilian targets in the UAE.
As for what comes next there are plenty of examples where the military phase was accomplished successfully but winning the peace is another matter.

That leads someone to top positions without proper knowledge.
So decesions that such persons brings are also inadequate ( read it stupid) .
To be smart- you need math, not "holly" books.
