Well - IF the whole thing has been worked out with the USN on the QT, AND some way was found to discover what other people might have been able to offer (because people usually won't give you full data unless there is a potential sale, and there isn't one of those unless there's a competition), THEN it MIGHT all work out fine.

But if it doesn't there will rightly be hell to pay about short-cuts and secret back-room deals.

Since a basic 737-800 galley layout can feed 189 passengers, the UK will probably need to add a few units for the MPA role.

The P-8 also comes with extra stowage for baguette-based sandwiches:

Depends on what the PAYD contractor put in the bid/can get away with... Expect a 'Costa' set up in there somewhere, not so sure if they will be stocking any of Greg's finest products though....

Will the RAF Poseidons receive the MRA.4's mission suites, were they scrapped too?

I have heard the P-8 Mission suite has a lot in common with the MRA4 one,

but whatever, changing the spec to suit the UK would surely just delay it and f*** the whole project up.

If the P8 operates a PAYD feeder system, will a new branch of Accounts Officer (Flying) be needed?

Pies will no longer be available in the new, leaner RAF...

That's because the new, leaner aircrew don't eat them any more - even ancient aircrew have fitness tests these days.

camelspyder - my sources tell me that the fitness test is not an issue with a bit of clever OPCON/OPCOM juggling.... No names - no beep test...

Tell me about it. A tubby instructor on my last unit used to send a student to take the beep test for him!

To give the current decision some context, how long could the MR2 have realistically continued in service?
