Well - IF the whole thing has been worked out with the USN on the QT, AND some way was found to discover what other people might have been able to offer (because people usually won't give you full data unless there is a potential sale, and there isn't one of those unless there's a competition), THEN it MIGHT all work out fine.

They were both awarded their Squadron Standard earlier than the required 25 years of service in recognition of the Sovereign's appreciation of outstanding service (120 was the top U Boat kill squadron in the Battle of the Atlantic amongst other things)

Since a basic 737-800 galley layout can feed 189 passengers, the UK will probably need to add a few units for the MPA role.
The P-8 also comes with extra stowage for baguette-based sandwiches:

I have heard the P-8 Mission suite has a lot in common with the MRA4 one,
but whatever, changing the spec to suit the UK would surely just delay it and f*** the whole project up.
